Before proceeding with the installation of blinds, you need to do the following: If necessary, perform additional work to prepare the window opening. It must be flat and have a geometrically correct shape. Carry out preliminary marking, while ensuring symmetry of the blind rail placement relative to the window opening and its strictly horizontal position. Ensure that the blinds do not interfere with opening the window sash. If the blinds are longer than 80 cm, additional mounting elements must be installed along the entire length, as well as on the side of the control cord at a distance of 10 cm (this is where the highest load occurs). Further in the article, you can familiarize yourself with instructions for self-installation of blinds - vertical and horizontal. Installation Instructions for Horizontal Blinds in Front of the Window Frame (to the Window Sill)

With this type of installation, the width of the blinds must be less than the width of the window opening by 4 cm.

To install blinds in front of the window, you will need a drill or impact driver and a screwdriver.

  • Align the blinds with the window opening and mark the locations of the brackets. Usually, the distance between brackets is 60 cm.

Diagram 1 — Mounting the Rail

  • Install the brackets at the required height, but ensure they do not interfere with the control mechanisms or fixators.
  • Mount the brackets to the window sill using screws.
  • Install the rail into the brackets until you hear a click.
  • Secure the bracket locks.
  • Install the control handle.
  • Check that the blinds function properly.

When mounting blinds outside the window opening, the sequence of actions remains the same as for installation in front of the window, except for some details. You will need to purchase brackets that allow mounting blinds at a certain distance from the wall so that the window opening handle does not interfere with blind operation. For mounting brackets, use screws and plugs appropriate to the wall material. The width of the blinds must be 20 cm wider than the window width, and the height of the blinds must be greater (plus 10 cm) or equal to the window opening height.

Installation Instructions for Horizontal Blinds Between Window Frames

  • Unpack the frame and mark the placement of control elements and flexible exit. To do this, align the blinds with the inner window sash. Then drill the necessary holes.
  • Connect brackets to supports. Bring the blind control elements out through the drilled holes.
  • Secure the blind rail to the window sash or directly into the window frame.
  • Mount the adapter on the frame. Pass the control rope through the spring and the lower hole.
  • Pass the flexible exit through the upper hole. Secure it to the frame with a special fixator. Attach the control handle to the flexible exit and fixator.
  • Check that the blinds function properly.

Installation Instructions for Blinds on Plastic Windows

Keep in mind that when installing blinds this way, their width must equal the glass width plus 3 cm (1.5 cm on each side). To install blinds on window sashes, you will need a screwdriver, scissors, or wire cutters.

  • First, connect the PVC window bracket to a universal bracket using a screw. Special mounting elements for PVC windows allow attaching blinds to the frame of plastic windows without drilling into the window profile.
  • Prepare a piece of cord of the required length (equal to the glass height plus 5 cm) and secure the upper cord fixator.
  • Thread the cord through the rail and slats.
  • Mount the PVC brackets to the blind rails. Secure the locks.
  • Mount the rail on the window sash, tightening the brackets with a 6-sided key included in the blind mounting kit.
  • Mount the lower brackets to the window frame.
  • Thread the cord through the fixator in the lower bracket. Tighten and secure the cord tension.
  • Install the control handle.
  • Check that the blinds function properly.

Installation Instructions for Vertical Blinds

  • Mark the mounting points of brackets on the window sill. They should be installed 30-50 cm apart depending on the blind width. Ensure that the brackets do not interfere with the control mechanisms of the blinds.
  • Mount the rail in the brackets, properly positioning the control mechanisms (the layout description is provided in the instruction for each type of blind).
  • Insert the blind rail into the brackets until you hear a click.
  • Rotate the runners perpendicular to the window plane using the control mechanism.
  • Insert the slats into the runners until you hear a click.
  • Secure the lower blind weights to both the inner and outer sides of the slats with a chain.
  • Check that the blinds function properly.

When installing vertical blinds, keep in mind that if the blinds are wider than 1.6 m, at least three mounting points must be installed.

Installation Instructions for Roller Blinds

To install roller blinds, you will need a drill or impact driver, level, and tape measure.

  • Determine the position of brackets based on the dimensions of the blinds (at least two brackets per meter of blind width) and the location of the control mechanism.
  • Secure the brackets to the window sill using screws.
  • Mount the blinds without the control mechanism into the brackets.
  • Adjust the brackets to level. They can be adjusted relative to the vertical or horizontal plane.
  • Remove the blinds and unroll the fabric to the intended maximum height.
  • Install the control chain so that the fixator prevents full unrolling of the fabric.
  • Close the control chain with a cover.
  • Mount the blinds into the brackets and insert the fixator until you hear a click.
  • Check that the roller blinds function properly.

By choosing one of these methods and following the instructions, installing blinds will not be difficult. Good luck with installation.
