How a Dead Kitchen Became a Retro Bathroom (Photo Before and After)
Cool renovation in a tiny studio in an 18th-century house
This apartment is located in a two-story house in Kolomna, which has the status of a suburban estate and is a cultural heritage object. The apartment owner, Arina Olesyuk, with the help of designer Olga Komarova, carried out a capital renovation, carefully preserving the atmosphere and historical heritage of the interior. We show you how the bathroom turned out.

The feature of the initial layout of the apartment is that the boiler and bathtub were located in a small and elongated kitchen, and the bathroom was extremely tiny.
Smart re-planning without demolishing walls significantly improved functionality: the kitchen was moved to the common living room area, and a spacious bathroom was created in its place. Everything necessary fit into it. The main advantage was the window. It provides natural lighting, visually enlarges the room, and makes the interior more pleasant.

The area of the new bathroom is 6.5 sq. m. Part of the walls were decorated with brick masonry, which was intentionally left exposed and painted white to slightly mute the bright terracotta color.

The walls in the wet zone were tiled with white ceramic tiles, and the upper part and ceiling were coated with turquoise water-emulsion paint. Turquoise in the interior became a bright accent that runs through the decoration and accessories, tying all the space together.

Storage was organized in a niche that previously served as a door opening. Wooden shelves were built-in, and a laundry bin was placed underneath.

To maintain a classic style, matching furnishings were selected: a snow-white bathtub on "lion paws," a sink, vintage mirror, antique chair, crystal chandelier, and retro-style sanitary fittings.
