Cool ideas we spotted in a beautiful project

Construction company WSL designed, built, and decorated a single-story eco-friendly house in Tver Oblast. The space of the house turned out to be functional, and the interior — cozy and stylish. We gathered the best solutions from this project that are worth noting. Most of these ideas can be applied both to decorating your own home and a regular apartment.

Do Away with Upper Cabinets

In the kitchen-dining area, they placed a spacious kitchen cabinet set, an island with a bar counter, and a dining table. The main part of the cabinet was made linear without upper cabinets. This approach helps make the space visually lighter and avoids cluttering. Replicating such a solution in a small isolated kitchen is practically impossible, but in an open kitchen-dining room — it's quite realistic.

Install the Oven at a Comfortable Height

The oven in the kitchen was placed not under the cooktop but in a separate column in the center. This makes it convenient to use — no need to bend down to place dishes and check their readiness. Note that the oven should be installed so that the display and control panel are not higher than eye level and not lower than the waist.

Planning and Design Considerations

It's practically impossible to take into account all the nuances during construction, planning, and house decoration. Wanting to save money, you might make critical mistakes and end up spending even more. Avoiding all kinds of extra costs and building your dream house can be achieved with the help of construction company WSL.

WSL builds eco-friendly wooden houses of premium and business class 'turnkey'. They perform the entire cycle of work — from design to interior and landscape design, so you won't need to constantly look for new executors.

What are the other advantages of working with WSL?

  • All objects have security cameras: the company constantly monitors the quality of services performed — you don’t have to worry about this.
  • Transparency at all stages of construction: before each type of work, everything is explained and a contract is signed.
  • If desired, you can terminate cooperation at any stage of construction and not lose money.
  • An individual manager is always available who will provide consultation and help solve any issues.
  • The company has established contacts with verified suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Extensive experience — WSL has been on the market for over 25 years.

Plan Several Lighting Scenarios

This kitchen-dining room features multiple lighting scenarios. Above the kitchen and dining area, suspended track lighting was installed along with pendant lights, above the worktop — a pair of wall sconces, and in the relaxation zone — a floor lamp and an impressive chandelier. The lighting helps functionally use the space and make it more cozy.

Install Dormer Windows with Electric Drive

In addition to large panoramic windows in the kitchen-dining room of this house, they also installed dormer windows to ensure the room has plenty of natural light. To make using them as comfortable as possible, they chose electrically operated windows — these can be controlled with a remote or through a phone app.

Use Tall Tubular Radiators

Standard radiators are often hard to integrate into the interior: they don’t look good and draw too much attention. Therefore, designers increasingly choose tall tubular models that become a kind of accent in the interior. In this project, WSL opted for dark gray radiators — they were installed in the kitchen-dining room and bathrooms. They look stylish, and thanks to the vertical lines, they visually lift the ceiling.

Tile the Shower Screen with the Same Tile as the Walls

For bathroom finishing near the master bedroom, they chose wide-format ceramic granite in neutral tones. To visually avoid breaking up the space, the shower screen was tiled with the same tile used on the walls. As a result, the bathroom and shower area look like one unified piece, and the space appears visually larger.

Hide a Freestanding Cabinet in a Niche

Integrated storage systems are often more expensive, plus you have to wait for them to be made and assembled on-site. In this project, they found a great alternative: they bought a spacious and stylish Dantone Home cabinet and built a niche from gypsum board, painting it the same color as the cabinet fronts. As a result, the cabinet looks like built-in, and there are no gaps between furniture and the ceiling where dust can accumulate.

Backlit Panels

To add volume to rooms and provide additional soft lighting, designers at WSL included backlit panels in the foyer and hallway. The boxes were made from gypsum board, and for finishing, they chose decorative plaster, with backlighting built-in around the perimeter. This solution looks impressive in the interior but remains minimalist.
