Not Boring Trash 73 m² with Vintage Elements
For the rental apartment, a beautiful color palette was chosen and existing furniture was integrated
Designer Lyudmila Golitsyna decorated a 73 sq. m three-room apartment in St. Petersburg for long-term rental. It was assumed that potential tenants would be a couple or family, so the small room does not have a clear concept. If additional furniture is added, it can become a child's room or study.
City: St. Petersburg
Type of Building: Old Fund
Area: 73 sq. m
Rooms: 3
Bathrooms: 2
ceiling Height: 3.3 m
Budget: 2 million rubles
Completion Date: January 2023
Designer: Lyudmila Golitsyna
Photographer: Anastasia Dubrova
The main task was to unite the entrance area, living room, and kitchen in a single space with clear zoning despite the lack of partitions.
Living Room-KitchenNatural gas was left in the apartment, but the stove was moved. “We saved money, so we built the kitchen cabinet from standard items and custom-made the countertop for the kitchen island from solid wood,”—the designer explains.
All walls and ceilings were plastered and painted. Where it was too difficult to deal with wall deterioration, gypsum board had to be added.
Semi-bar stools from Belarus chosen for value-for-money, solid wood and easy textile upholstery replacement without visiting a workshop, which is important on the kitchen.
The design of the apartment did not have a clear stylistic concept; there was furniture that needed to be reused and supplemented with new interior items. The task was to create an interior where these items would look best.
Project Concept – Give New Life to Old Things and Minimize Budget.
There is a lot of ceramics with colored glaze and colored vintage glass in the interior.Bedroom
A soft paint tone was chosen for the bedroom. IKEA furniture and vintage pieces were repainted in the same color.
Guest BedroomThe second room can serve as a second bedroom or a child's room. Here, a small bed and an antique cabinet that neighbors in the hallway wanted to throw away were placed.

Bathroom
The bathroom is separate. For the shower room, tiles and paint were chosen for finishing.

In the toilet, old finishing was stripped down to brick and painted white with water-resistant paint, and ceramic tiles were laid on the floor.
