Ideas for Decorating a Small Country Kitchen

Use Unexpected Color Combinations

Pavel Zheleznov and Tatyana Borisova decided to recreate a traditional Russian estate interior with a grand living room and dining room on a regular country house. A bright accent against the natural pine boarding was the emerald kitchen cabinet with a deep wine-toned apron — an unexpected but very effective combination.

Lay the Cabinet with Ceramic Tiles

Ilya and Alena Erashevichis — a married couple and creators of the Sweet Home studio — used interesting ideas in the finishing of their own country house. The kitchen is the heart of the home. Alena designed the cabinet, and she also created the blueprints, while Ilya made it himself. The lower part of the cabinet is tiled with ceramic tiles that transition to the apron, and the upper cabinets were found at a budget-friendly furniture brand.

Tip from INMYROOM: If you're unsure whether you can lay the tiles yourself, it's better to find a reliable specialist.

On Avito Services, you can find professionals for any task: from delivery of building materials to laying flooring and interior wall finishing. Finding the perfect specialist is very easy: in the filters, you can select the master's profile of work (decorator, electrician, builder, etc.), tick the box for "4 stars and above," specify the desired work experience, and also add a guarantee. Pay attention to the "Documents Verified" badge in the master's profile — it means the specialist has confirmed the authenticity of their account.

What about the living room?

Use Pastel Tones for Finishing

The owner of an old country house wanted to get rid of the dark wood color in the interior. Designer Elena Sergeeva left the old boarding but painted it in soft tones: for the living room, mint green was chosen. The space immediately became brighter, cozier, and more romantic. A homey atmosphere was also created with light tulle and colorful textiles.

Play with Color and Boarding Layout

Designers from the On_Design_Lab studio needed to come up with a project that was easy to implement but interesting in design solution. Therefore, they used the cheapest materials but played with color and layout. In the living room, part of the wall was decorated with boarding laid vertically, and part — horizontally. The bottom was painted white, and the top — in a brown tone, leaving the wood texture. Several wall sconces and family photos — and the interior looks super stylish and modern.

Collect Vintage Furniture and Items in One Place

It's great when interior decoration emphasizes the connection between traditions and modernity. The architects from Bureau "Project905" say: "The living room represents an open multifunctional space with a stove-burzhuika and large windows, which creates the atmosphere of a traditional Tarusa house."

Make the Stove an Accent

If you have an old stove in your country house, you're very lucky. It can be the highlight of the living room interior. Designers Dina Kostochka and Nina Birkadze built the entire interior around a real Russian stove. The owners themselves said they started the renovation just for the stove and cozy evenings with hot tea. "The functioning Russian stove is decorated with a carved frame, like a precious painting," the designers say.

How to Stylishly Decorate a Bedroom

Stick to a White Theme

At her country house, decorator Irina Lavrentyeva made a major renovation. On the second floor, she exposed the beams — the rooms immediately became filled with air. The floors were made of warehouse pine. The walls and ceiling in the bedroom were painted white to increase the visual volume. Furniture and decor were selected accordingly, so nothing stood out.

Or Put Your Bet on Color

Don't like white? Paint the bedroom in your favorite shade and choose decor and accessories to match, so you create a harmonious combination without much difficulty. For example, during the renovation of a country house, decorator Zhenya Zhudanova chose a color for each bedroom: one became light yellow, another — soft turquoise, the third — sky blue, and the main bedroom — muted lavender. Combined with white floors and white doors, the boarding looks very fresh and cozy. For easy navigation, the door panels in the bedrooms were painted in the corresponding color according to the recess lines, and already in the hallway, you can understand which color the room behind that door is.

Bring Out Souvenirs Brought from Vacation

Dina Kostochka and Nina Birkadze succeeded in creating a stylish and unusual interior, using decor that the clients brought from their travels. The walls made of timber in the bedroom were not closed off, only covered with a protective composition and toned.

The decor is almost all Italian: the clients have been collecting items from their travels for a long time. Vibrant paintings, textile fabric on the headboard, decorative plates with a rich pattern on the walls delight the eye and add individuality to the interior. You want to look at every detail.

And, of course, don't forget about the bathroom

Combine Wood with Tiles

The client wanted to keep the wood texture, so they simply painted the walls and floors — this helped save on finishing. In the bathroom, designer Ksenia Naleetova suggested using tiles with a weathered texture — they fit best in this interior. It turned out stylish and practical.

Turn the Bathroom into a Magic Box

From the bathroom on the attic, designers from the studio "Mr. Design" made a magic box: they took bright blue and white arabesques as the basis of the interior, diluted with yellow and patterned inserts. Built-in furniture with blue cabinets and wood-like facades softens the strictness of the tiles and adds warmth.

Don't Be Afraid of Dark Tones in the Interior

One of the bathrooms in a country house designed by architects Alexander Safarov and Julia Musina is solved in a radical color palette. Deep black gloss actively works with the color and texture of wood, with the accent placed on the mirror with a frame made from hand-crafted tiles. The ceiling in mustard color works not as an accent but as a background. Vibrant textiles were chosen to match the tiles and ceiling.
