Pro shared what will remain relevant for not just one season

Furniture items are long-term purchases: people buy them not for a year or even two. Yet, even in this field, seasonal trends can be identified. The owner of furniture production Wellmebel Irina Golubovskaya shared her insights on the main trends.

Work Zone Zoning

This trend originated during the pandemic when we were all forced to stay home 24/7 and work in these conditions. Having lived through such an experience, more people are now setting aside a dedicated workspace at home. Until 2020, having your own office in an apartment was more of an exception than a rule. Now it's a common practice — creating comfortable working conditions at home.

Rounded Shapes

Just a year ago, buyers preferred furniture with square and rectangular shapes with sharp corners. Now more people are choosing furniture with rounded edges, such as soft furniture in crescent shape or chairs with round backs.

Concealment

The era of open shelves and cabinets has passed. Today, the trend is on concealment: buyers choose wall-to-wall wardrobes with solid doors and even without handles. These interior items create a sense of cleanliness, harmony in space without visible clutter. A more sophisticated and stylish solution is when storage systems match the wall color.

Minimalism

This trend has been relevant for more than one season and is visible everywhere: from furniture selection to hardware. Buyers tend to choose interior items with minimalist design or without it, with almost invisible details. Many prefer storage systems without handles.

Eco-friendly Materials

Furniture made from natural materials is more than just a trend — it's good taste in interior design. It gained popularity during the pandemic. People spent most of their time at home and began to understand how important it is to surround themselves with quality interior items. Eco-friendly furniture fits this description perfectly. It does not emit toxic vapors and is completely safe. It has a long lifespan, withstands damage well, and looks premium. Of course, tactile comfort is also important: eco-friendly furniture is exceptionally pleasant to touch.

Glass is also considered a natural material, but not without controversy. For example, glass tables are outdated — better to leave them in the past. However, you can use glass as interior partitions, such as in walk-in closets. Designers love them and many clients want to see this — metal frame covered with glass. Typically, tinted beige-toned glass is used in walk-in closets. This trend has emerged relatively recently but is already quite popular.

Combination of Incompatible Elements

Eclecticism in interior design is gaining popularity. This applies to both furniture selection and combining polar materials. For example, in modern interiors you're unlikely to find traditional furniture sets. Our grandmothers and mothers preferred perfect combinations of all furniture items in one room. Now, it's trendy to have furniture in different colors and even styles coexisting peacefully with each other. If a buyer wants to harmonize them, they can place decorative pillows on the sofa that match the chair's color. This balances the composition.

As for mixing materials, it’s popular now to combine metal and wood, textiles and rattan. Contrasts can be unexpected and bold. This creates a special aesthetic for garden furniture. For example, cotton fabric trim and textile cushions look great on chairs with metal frames.

Interior Transitions and Universal Materials

The absolute trend of recent seasons is patio, which becomes a logical continuation of indoor spaces. Hence the popularity of sofas with wear-resistant textile upholstery that can be used both in a living room and on a veranda. Yes, the fabric may look ordinary at first glance, but it’s not. It's specifically designed for outdoor conditions.

Additionally, the trend of using synthetic material duplicates is gaining momentum. They look no worse than natural ones and sometimes even better. Moreover, they are easier to maintain, not afraid of humidity or stains.
