Light Interior of a Two-Room Apartment That Won't Go Out of Style
The designer shared her work process and tips on how to make a basic interior unique
The apartment designed by designer Elena Chigireva is located in Kaliningrad, in a beautiful development 'Amalienaу'. The client bought it for her mother so she could comfortably run her affairs and spend time with her grandchildren. The project author shared some interesting details.

Layout
The apartment's area is sufficient for one person to live and entertain guests — 77.4 square meters. Notable features include many windows and the irregular shape of all rooms.
The main task was to create a large dining area, so we removed the small room and connected it with the kitchen to form a dining room. One of the rooms had a column, which we masked by creating space for an integrated wardrobe in the bedroom.

Kitchen
The kitchen was designed entirely according to my sketches, and the furniture was ordered from a local craftsman. All appliances are built-in; we tucked the boiler behind the column with the oven and microwave into a cabinet. The sink was placed opposite the window: so that the faucet wouldn't interfere with opening the window, we chose a special drop-down model — this is an important detail.

Dining set — a family treasure, it served as the basis for the color scheme of this area.
Living Room
We laid a honey-toned parquet floor: it became the foundation that set the direction for the entire interior. The walls are painted with English paint Little Greene, moldings, curtains and baseboards from Orac Decor. I suggested using this specific paint because of its 'chameleon' undertones, and the apartment has beautiful natural light: walls seem to change throughout the day. The moldings give a classical feel and complete the look.

Special attention was paid to textiles in the interior. We used magical Morris patterns on curtains in the living room, which are worth examining closely. These were complemented by decorative cushions. Each item was carefully chosen; most were bought on sale, so we managed to stay within a relatively small budget.

Bedroom
In the bedroom, we used Swedish wallpaper Borastapeter with a fern leaf pattern behind the headboard. This is an excellent solution when you want to create a focal point in the interior without spending too much money.

Pattern on the wallpaper was supported with textiles and decor.

Picture in the bedroom — a work by the owner's granddaughter, who studies at an art school. It brings special tenderness and warmth.
Hallway and Storage Solutions
Since each resident was provided with a private storage room, there was no need for large storage systems. The most expensive part of the wardrobe was the sliding door. We bought a wardrobe system at a home improvement store and found a rolling chest of drawers at IKEA. The contents cost about 10,000 rubles. However, the wardrobe in the hallway was ordered from a private craftsman, as were the kitchen and dining room.

Bathroom
The bathroom took a long time to plan. We needed to fit in a shower cubicle, built-in toilet, a large countertop with storage drawers and a washing machine underneath. Everything fit in the space; we added volume with a large mirror flanked by wall lights.
