How to Make Indoor Air Cleaner: 7 Effective Methods
Simple tips from professionals
The quality of air in your home directly affects how you feel. Any pollutants such as dust or carbon dioxide inevitably cause fatigue and headaches. The ideal solution in this case would be to move to the countryside, but not everyone is ready to give up city life.
You can solve this problem by regularly monitoring the air quality in your apartment. Sergey Chernov, an expert from Haier company, shared some effective methods of purifying the room with us.
Use an Air Circulator
A simple and, most importantly, free method is to ventilate your living space daily. Windows should be opened at least twice a day. However, during winter you might catch a cold, and if there is a major road nearby, the air outside may not be clean.
Alternatively, you can use an air circulator. This device passes outdoor air through a filter and fills the room with it, creating a favorable microclimate.

Air purifiers are also widely used. These devices filter the air, removing bacteria and dust particles. Today, many stores sell universal models that perform cleaning, humidifying, and ionizing simultaneously. Ionization involves saturating the air with active ions, making it feel like after a thunderstorm.
Have Plants
Indoor plants help absorb harmful particles that pollute the air in a room. However, you need to choose specific types—such as Schefflera, Dracaena, Chlorophytum, Scindapsus, and Ficus. Also, it's important to keep the leaves clean so they can purify the air by up to 35%.

The most optimal solution for an apartment is an air conditioner. There are models on the market that not only cool the indoor air but also combine several functions into one unit: fan, heater, purifier, and ionizer. To prevent pollutants from accumulating on the evaporator, you can choose an air conditioner with self-cleaning capabilities.
The capacity of the device depends on the size of your living space and the season of operation. Inverter models work for heating down to -15 degrees Celsius, while non-inverter ones function up to -7 degrees. It's also important to select a unit with the lowest noise level possible.
Do Wet Cleaning
Wet cleaning should be done twice a week, avoiding the use of household chemicals. For dry cleaning, vacuum cleaners with strong suction are suitable, where it’s essential to replace dust containers and filters on time. In this way, the cleaning process will minimize dust levels and clean the air.

A quartz lamp decontaminates the air in your apartment completely unnoticed but very effectively. However, it must be left on for a long time, and you are not allowed to stay near it while it's operating. Due to this reason, a quartz lamp is not suitable for owners of single-room apartments with children or pets.
Try a Salt Lamp
A salt lamp has an unusual appearance and remarkable properties. It absorbs toxins circulating in the air and cleans it efficiently. However, such a device only works when heated and requires a special place in the house.
