Design tricks to keep your renovation stylish for years
Simple tips from professionals
Today we share with you life hacks from Julia Gorbunova based on her interior design project for her mother-in-law's home.
1. Various lighting options
It is advisable not to limit yourself to just ceiling lights when choosing lighting scenarios. For example, backlighting behind the cornice will expand the space and emphasize ceiling height, while wall sconces provide localized lighting for individual corners of the room and generally make it cozier.
LIFE HACK: Julia used sconces both above the bed and above the dresser. This way, there's no need to turn on general lighting when searching for a specific item in a drawer.
2. Making use of bathroom space
For one person or a family couple, a combined bathroom works well, but every centimeter should be utilized. For example, Julia placed the sink niche between the toilet and the shower.
A storage cabinet no more than 100 cm in size is a great alternative to a full wardrobe. LIFE HACK: To save space in the bathroom, it is recommended to install a shower door that opens on both sides.
3. Storage space
Juilia set up a storage room in the second bathroom, but a niche in the hallway can also be used. It easily fits a washing machine, dryer, and ironing board.
LIFE HACK: To maintain order in the storage space, it is recommended to place special boxes on the shelves for storage.
4. Storage in the hallway
In a small hallway, items can fit into one large cabinet. It is better to choose one in wall color so it doesn’t stand out in the space. If space is limited, the cabinet can be cut to depth (this is a job for a craftsman).
LIFE HACK: The cabinet doors can be enhanced with stylish hardware – for example, Julia added golden handles to a simple white cabinet. More details in our video:
