Our hero, a subject photographer and photography teacher Alexei Sokolov, decorated his 67 sq. m apartment without professional help. Despite the challenging task (the apartment is located in Moscow's Red Houses), he managed to preserve the vintage look of the living space and at the same time make it incredibly stylish.Photo: in style, Renovation – photo on our websiteLOCATION: MoscowHOUSE TYPE: Stalin-era buildingAREA: 67 sq. mROOMS: 2BATHROOMS: 1DESIGN: Alexei SokolovVideo of this apartment (27 minutes)Layout

The original layout of the new owner fully satisfied him, so he made no changes. It was only necessary to transform the outdated classic interior into a Scandinavian mid-century style while staying within a modest budget.

The previous owner removed all narrow corridors, and the entrance hall acquired a square shape. The ceiling is decorated with recessed lights hiding the beams, and a built-in wardrobe with antiques was installed in the wall.

The living room with an area of 25 sq. m contains many vintage items. For example, it is adorned with 1960s velvet armchairs from Poland, restored Soviet table lamps, and a 1970s Italian designer typewriter. Many pieces of furniture and decor were bought by Alexei on Avito and restored.

The apartment has a forged balcony with wooden railings. The owner decided to decorate it with geraniums and yews to create a green relaxation zone.

Everything needed was arranged on the small kitchen. Alexei also supplemented the standard Scandinavian style with elements from the Soviet era. For example, a 1955 marble Tulip table is complemented by chairs from Czechoslovakia of the same period.

A crystal chandelier 'Satellite' hangs from the ceiling, and the floor is tiled with Metlakat tile 'octagon'.

The most peaceful spot in the apartment is a minimalist and compact bedroom. Despite its small dimensions, a separate wardrobe and office were organized here.

As in all other rooms, vintage accessories dominate in the bedroom: a radio, a phone, a camera, black-and-white photos, and a poster of the Hungarian film 'From Saturday to Monday'.
