Bombastic renovation in old housing stock

Standard apartments in Khrushchyovka-era buildings do not stand out for high comfort levels. The situation can be fundamentally changed with a well-planned renovation done by professionals.

We offer you the opportunity to see the total transformation of a dull two-room flat by designer Yevgenia Matveenko with your own eyes.

Reconfiguration

The dining table was moved from the kitchen to the living room, and a built-in wardrobe was installed in the hallway. Visually, the dining area is separated from the kitchen using a sliding glass partition that can be hidden in the wall when needed.

Along the window, a bed with pull-out drawers was placed where clothes can be stored.Photo: in style, Apartment, Tips, Khrushchyovka – photos on our websitePhoto: in style, Apartment, Tips, Khrushchyovka – photos on our website

The bathroom area was expanded by using space in the corridor. The washing machine and bathtub were moved behind a partition, so they don’t interfere during water procedures.

Storage

There is space on the upper shelves of the suspended kitchen cabinets for storing glasses, household appliances, and other small items.

The large wardrobe in the hallway has a spacious section for seasonal accessories — they will fit there.

The bathroom also includes additional niches for hygiene products and related items.

Finishing

The interior is almost entirely realized using natural materials with natural textures.

The bathroom was tiled with ceramic granite mimicking marble and wood, the walls in rooms were painted with paint, and the floor was finished with parquet.

Decoration

The space is executed in neutral tones — gray and white, with small mustard-yellow accents.

Furniture was chosen only what is absolutely necessary to avoid cluttering square meters. The bed, sofa, shelves, and floor lamp were all bought at IKEA.

An unusual decorative solution was a Thai painting featuring a pink elephant, which was hung in the living room. First, it complements the overall color palette, and second, it reminds viewers of travels to exotic countries.
