Redesigning a 28 m² Studio for Living and Working for 600 Thousand Rubles
How a designer managed to create a stylish and functional interior
Every creative person dreams of universal housing where they can relax and develop their craft.
Designer Svetlana Kuksova demonstrated on her own apartment how to create such an interior for a relatively small amount of money.
Floor PlanSvetlana designed the interior of this studio for herself and her family. Initially, it was planned to decorate a temporary living space that could later be reorganized.

They laid wear-resistant ceramic granite on the floor, as Svetlana's husband is an artist and paint stains would be hard to remove from other flooring options.
The kitchen is done in dark tones, which adds depth to the interior and does not draw too much attention. The refrigerator was moved into the hallway and placed in a cabinet to avoid taking up extra space in the room.
The living area is separated from the entrance hall by a door-pen that transforms into an open passage during daylight hours.
FinishingThey saved a lot by using natural materials in the finishing. The countertops and windowsill are made of pine wood and coated with stain and oil. The softwood of economy class showed excellent durability over two years with proper care.
The wallpapers were designed by Svetlana herself: the berry meadow spreads smoothly and resonates with the chair and pouf upholstery.

Storage SystemBehind the curtains by the window, there is a bookshelf — in the family, people love spending time reading literature. The shelves were decided to be hidden behind the curtains so that books are always easily accessible and the room does not look cluttered. In addition, the lower sections of the cabinet can be used as bedside tables.
DecorationMost of the decorative items were designed by Svetlana herself: lights in the bathroom, a mudboard at the desk, and the front door.

Many wall hangings are original illustrations, and the painting in the bathroom also serves as a hatch to hide the collector.

The image on the kitchen wall was specially created for this interior. It combines all color accents in the theme of Scandinavian forests.

What do you think of this interior? The designer spent only 600 thousand rubles on it thanks to the fact that many things were made by her and her husband with their own hands. The furniture was purchased in budget stores like IKEA and Hoff. By the way, the doors were found at the hypermarket OBI.
