Spring Decluttering: 7 Tips for Perfect Closet Organization
Vacuum bags, the reach-out principle, and other alternative storage methods that will free up space in your closet. Real examples of wardrobes from our projects are included
Decluttering in the wardrobe is often not just about storage systems, although it's also about them, but more about the ability to let go of old things and items that no longer appeal to you. Therefore, the first rule: forgotten winter clothes (and not only winter) are better donated to clothing collection centers, thrift stores, or thrown away. This includes mismatched socks and boxes from electronics.
The Reach-Out Principle
This principle works like this: clothes worn frequently can be reached by extending your arm, while everything else should be placed further away and higher up. For example, winter clothes in spring are better stored in covers and tucked into the attic, while seasonal items can be hung instead. In addition to organization, this approach saves time on packing.

If the storage system is designed for two or more family members, the wardrobe can be divided into children's and adult zones. The adult zone, in turn, can be split into male and female sections.
Another option is to divide the wardrobe by categories. Outerwear and shoes on the right, accessories and everyday clothes on the left. The same can be done with seasonal items.

Mesh and transparent containers help quickly navigate the wardrobe. If storage zones are open, you can label containers or organize them by color.

If every square meter in the wardrobe counts, vacuum bags can save space. Especially useful for bulky winter down jackets and ski suits. As a bonus, this solution protects outerwear from moths, dust, and sunlight. To avoid ruining the appearance, they can be hidden in containers or under the bed.

If the wardrobe is not designed for this purpose, alternative storage methods can be used. Attics, space under the bed, balcony area, or even an empty suitcase can hide items that don't fit in the closet.

Sometimes the issue is not about the number of drawers or hangers, but about the layout of the closet or wardrobe. For example, if the width of the closet is insufficient, use its height. It's ideal if storage systems can be arranged up to the ceiling and angles are utilized. Every centimeter should be put to work.
