How to Clear Balcony of Clutter After Winter?
Even on a small balcony, you can organize convenient storage systems and a cozy relaxation area. Don't let this precious space be buried under mountains of unnecessary items.
During winter, balconies often turn into storage rooms for various items, many of which should have been discarded long ago. Now is the perfect time to tidy up your balcony and prepare it for spring. Follow our tips and don't delay cleaning until later.
Remove All Items
Before starting the cleaning, remove all items from the balcony. If there's too much clutter to handle in one go, set a goal: dedicate at least five minutes daily to cleaning.
This way, you'll gradually clear the balcony of unnecessary items, decide what to throw away, what to keep, and which items can be sold. Once you've cleared the balcony of excess, sweep up large trash into a bin and vacuum all accessible surfaces.

Clean the Surfaces
Wet cleaning should begin with windows. It's better to do this on cloudy days when direct sunlight doesn't hit the glass and it doesn’t heat up. Otherwise, cleaning solution will dry too quickly, leaving soap streaks on the glass.
First, wipe the frame, then clean the glass from the inside out to assess how much dirt has accumulated on the outside. Clean windows from top to bottom, avoiding circular motions that leave streaks. Finally, rinse the glass with clean water and dry it thoroughly with a paper towel or microfiber cloth.

Now proceed to the floor. Choose cleaning products depending on the flooring type. Most dust collects on skirting boards, so pay special attention to them.
If the balcony is not enclosed, wash the railings and wrought iron fence. If old paint has peeled off, scrape it off with a metal brush and repaint the railings.
Organize Storage Systems
Before storing items, wash them thoroughly to remove dirt and dust. A closed built-in cabinet is the most versatile way to store items on a balcony or loggia.
However, if you don't want the cabinet to take up space, install an open shelf. You can leave shelves open or cover them with a compact sliding screen or hang curtains.

For large items like bicycles, snowboards, or sleds, use wall hooks or special mounting systems. Various small items, such as paintbrushes, can be placed in compact hanging organizers or plastic containers on shelves.
Additional storage space can be created in a bench with a fold-down seat or a sofa with extendable drawers. Functional furniture allows you to store cans of canned goods and construction tools in order and cleanliness, while also creating a cozy atmosphere.

Make the Balcony Cozy
Create a small dining corner using a compact table and a pair of chairs. Folding furniture is ideal for balconies, as it can be easily stored away when not in use, freeing up space. A suspended chair also takes up little room and looks great in any interior.
On narrow loggias, wide window sills can serve as dining tables or bar counters. To visually expand the area, paint walls and railings in light tones.

Complete the interior with plants. You can utilize the ceiling by placing flower pots on hanging systems, saving space on shelves and tables. Flowers can also be arranged in planters mounted on the balcony railings.
Cozy lighting would make a great addition. These can include outdoor string lights suitable for year-round use, artificial candles, glowing figurines, or even garden lanterns.
