Interior Doors — 2020: Professional Review

In our subconscious, we have already accepted the idea that UNION is the largest manufacturer of interior doors and their supplier from Italy. But it turns out not only that. As a designer, I found many solutions for the workflow process. I won't bore you with lengthy reflections, let me tell you exactly what I saw in this showroom.

The selection of products is impressive. UNION not only manufactures doors but also various interior items such as: dressers, wardrobes, display cases, wall panels and even dining tables.

But I will start with doors. I think there's no need to be surprised by the popularity of UNION products, since the manufacturer has taken into account almost all modern consumer requirements: stylish design, unobtrusiveness and universality of models.

What does that mean? It's very simple: such doors will look appropriate in any design project. I'll share a little "secret": designers don't just randomly emphasize high door frames in interiors. Demand creates supply — we make what customers like.

Seeing the selection displayed in the showroom, I realized that I could use 3.5-meter-high doors. This would be an optimal solution for the project I'm currently working on — I could separate the living room area using tall, ceiling-to-floor, and beautiful doors. Moreover, UNION's doors can even be glass doors of such height — because their frame is very rigid and solid. This indicates that you don't have to worry about their durability.

Aluminum door profiles are available in various colors. For me, the revelation was a black-colored profile with glass panels and black handles. This model adds graphic elements to the interior. Just imagine: a white wall with a white door with clear contours. What else could be a perfect embodiment of beauty and style?

Another frequent guest in my projects is a hidden door that can be painted — an excellent option for auxiliary rooms like wardrobes, built-in wardrobes in the hallway, or laundry rooms. Doors can be made completely invisible: for example, by using moldings to decorate an accent wall. We install the hidden door, decorate the wall with moldings together with the door panel, without marking the opening, and paint it. It's both functional and very beautiful.

I couldn't pass by the glass doors with the StopSol effect without reacting. Visually, such a door looks like a mirror. But when the light is turned on inside the room behind it, the glass becomes semi-transparent. A captivating impression.

Especially impressive is a glass cabinet or even a wardrobe made from such glass — an original and beautiful way to zone the space. I will definitely use this solution in one of my projects!

Among the doors displayed in the showroom, I liked models with illuminated thresholds — it feels like the door floats. I think these can be recommended to customers. A 2.6-meter-high door won't look bulky even in a small room. On the contrary, it will appear elegant and mysteriously beautiful.

I also want to mention the door panel made of frosted glass decorated with horizontal aluminum strips. When light passes through such a door, it creates a sense of depth, airiness and at the same time graphic clarity. These doors will look perfect when combined with furniture containing metal elements. And very stylishly. Of course, using such models requires future homeowners to be meticulous about cleaning — you'll need to frequently wipe the aluminum strips off dust.

For a designer, every detail matters in an interior. This applies to door handles too. They should beautifully complete the look, not just be a faceless accessory. There are no problems with choosing door handles in UNION — they can be made not only of metal but also include inserts made from the same material as the door panel: stone, wood or glass.

New trend — unified style

The UNION showroom presents a very harmonious display that, by the way, significantly simplifies the selection process. It subtly suggests: do you like doors "made of stone"? Then pay attention to the suspended dresser in combination with wall panels made from the same material. It's precisely similar combinations of textures — aluminum, veneer or painted glass — in different elements of the interior that make it complete.

Immediately noticed a suspended glass and aluminum display case with lighting. This is exactly the case where something is both practical and stylish. The display case doesn't look bulky, on the contrary, due to the absence of legs it appears light in weight, and transparent shelves with lighting create a sense of subtle atmosphere around it. Imagine how harmoniously such a display case would look in combination with glass doors of the same shade.

Another advantage is that the display case is modular. You can hang it wherever and however you wish — vertically or horizontally.

Surprisingly, even TV sets made up of multiple elements and taking up quite a lot of wall space look compact and light. The secret is the same — glass, thin aluminum and lighting. I want to highlight models with tinted mirrors, which add a certain mystery to the interior.

In the showroom, you can also buy shelves with lighting. This item will never be a burden in a home.

As for outfitting a wardrobe in the UNION showroom — there's a true paradise! Here are stylish sliding and hinged doors, as well as various modular storage systems. How many shelves and sections you need — it's up to you to decide. If you approach this task wisely, even in a small area you can create a convenient wardrobe with everything you and your family need.

In conclusion

I could tell about my impressions from the showroom for a very long time. But, as they say, better to see once than hear a hundred times. The selection and originality of the products displayed in the showroom will amaze even designers who have been working on interior decoration for years. And people far from design but who want to live in a beautiful and stylish environment — even more so.
