8 Ideas for the Dacha Inspired by a Polish Cottage
Inspiration for your accomplishments
This cottage is located in Mazovia, in the northeast of Poland. The owners bought it in the mid-1980s, and their daughter Anna came up with a beautiful and tasteful way to decorate the space. We share ideas we noticed in the interior of this cottage.
White colorA great idea is to paint the walls and ceiling white. Even small rooms will visually appear larger. And on cloudy days, the house will always feel bright.
Smart zoningThere is no need for unnecessary partitions, furniture pieces, or constructions on the dacha. Decor, lighting, and textiles help zone the space. See how carpets divide a room into several zones.
Decorative items and pendant lights serve the same purpose. For example, a composition of vintage plates marks the dining area, while a painting above the lounge chair helps define a relaxation zone.

Kitchen without upper cabinetsIf you have a small kitchen at your dacha, avoid overloading the space with upper cabinets. Usually, only essential dishes are stored in summer cottages, so there should be enough room.
Sink by the windowIf you didn't have the chance to set up a sink by the window in your apartment, make this dream come true at the dacha. Then you won't need additional lighting in this area. But there are more benefits here—read more about it in our article.
Minimalist furnitureIf you don't need to store many things at your dacha, try to do without unnecessary cabinets. It's better to restore and reuse old furniture. This will give your interior a special atmosphere.
Relaxation zone on the balconyIf you're planning to build a dacha house, consider including at least a small balcony. For example, in this cottage, you can enter the balcony directly from the bedroom—this area was designed as another relaxation zone.

Replace ceiling lightsOn the second floor under the roof, there is usually no space to hang ceiling lights, so they were replaced with wall sconces. Lamps can be mounted into wooden beams or use plug-in lights.
Hangout instead of a gazeboDon't have space to install a gazebo or swings? Hang a hammock with blankets and pillows on the porch, and you've got the perfect spot for relaxation.
