7 Genius Solutions for Cozy Living in a Tiny Apartment
It's hard to believe that this apartment is only 18 square meters! What's the secret? We examined all the 'magic' design solutions closely.
We've already written about this tiny apartment. Mariya Pahomova managed to do the impossible — fit everything needed for comfortable living, work, and even hosting guests in just 18 square meters. We decided to focus on this project once again and tell more about each of the designer's solutions.
Of course, there are no standalone tables here — there's simply nowhere to place them. Mariya Pahomova designed radiator screens that can be transformed into a dining table (in the kitchen area) and a working table (by the sofa) when needed — just lift the countertop and secure it in place.
Bed in WardrobeThe apartment is so small that even a tiny sofa-bed wouldn't fit. Therefore, the sleeping area is located inside the wardrobe — thanks to a special mechanism, the bed easily unfolds and can be put away again without effort.
Multi-functional FurnitureYes, indeed — stools in this apartment can be used for sitting and as bedside tables. They can also be stacked on top of each other to save even more space.
One Wardrobe for EverythingThe built-in wardrobe behind the sofa is used to the maximum extent — it's the main storage area for everything: sleeping space, bedding, clothes, luggage, and seasonal items. There's even a niche for a projector.
There is also a utility section in the wardrobe for an iron, mop, bucket, and Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner — a special socket was made for charging the vacuum.
3D-Printed Range HoodThis is not a joke. The client wanted a range hood with a powerful motor connected to the central ventilation system. It turned out that there are no range hoods 1.7 meters tall on the market. So Mariya Pahomova came up with an unconventional solution — she 3D-printed the range hood.
"The hood can be removed in case of motor failure, and a grease-filter is installed at the bottom using magnets," — the designer explains. "The builders called it Space X."
Perforated PanelA super convenient item. Not just for small spaces. On such a panel, you can hang items, hooks, rearrange them, and add or reduce the number of shelves.
"One of the most successful and functional details," says Mariya Pahomova. "I got the idea from a regular building supply store where all the products were arranged on perforated panels. We just increased its scale and reduced the perforation spacing."
Tropical Plants in the BathroomThe bathroom in this apartment is also tiny — just over 1.5 meters, but daylight streams in through glass panels above the ceiling. There's no way to leave out a spot for plants — so tropical plants were added.
Agree, taking a morning shower here is a pleasure. A perfect vacation mood for the whole day is guaranteed!
