5 "killed" stalin apartments: how they were transformed into cozy flats
Designers completely renovated the "killed" apartments and preserved the atmosphere of the old city
We selected five apartments that you would like to move into, start a family and a dog, and spend cozy evenings in the living room. Be inspired by our renovation collection.
Apartment for a family with two children
Designer Natalia Solo started work on the project with a major reconfiguration: she got rid of the unnecessary large corridor with an area of 20 square meters and used this space to set up walk-in closets.
All four rooms remained in their original places — only the living room was joined with the kitchen. Since the stove in the apartment is gas, she installed glass sliding partitions — it looks beautiful. By the way, the bedroom door was disguised with moldings — try to find it in the first photo.

Stylish Stalin apartment for a collector
In this "killed" Stalin apartment, designers from Soda studio immediately saw potential — high ceilings, cornices, and beautiful windows. The professionals decided to keep the spirit of old Moscow but modernize the space according to the client's needs. Since he refused a gas stove in favor of an electric one, they joined the kitchen with the living room.
The bedroom had to be slightly reduced to accommodate a full walk-in closet. However, there was still enough space for a large double bed and a nightstand.

Trash with a home library
The previous owners of the apartment made a convenient reconfiguration, but designer Natalia Merdina still had to make changes. As a result, the Stalin apartment now has separate bathrooms, a storage room for household items, and two large walk-in closets.
In the end, the space became convenient and functional: they designed two living rooms, a cozy kitchen with a dining area, and many storage spaces.

2-room flat with convenient layout
All partitions in this apartment were non-load-bearing, so designer Alena Chmeleva decided to remove them and completely reconfigure the space. After the renovation, the apartment owners gained a large kitchen (the hostess loves cooking), a spacious living room with a dining area, and a vibrant bedroom with a walk-in closet. The color palette was chosen so skillfully that the overall atmosphere became as positive as possible.

Cozy apartment in gray-blue tones
This "killed" Stalin apartment was completely transformed by designer Elena Zufarova — and she tried to preserve the spirit of old Moscow. The clients are a family with two sons, so it was important to them to leave as much space as possible for family gatherings. The parents even gave up a full bedroom in favor of a spacious living room-dining area with a pull-out sofa.
Since the project budget was limited, vintage, custom furniture, and even IKEA items are found here.
