Kevin Systrom can afford any kind of housing. But he chose a cozy family home by the lake. The very same lake where he and his wife Nicole first went on a date.

Kevin and Nicole approached the construction of their lakeside home creatively: they didn't start with a design project, but rather with a storyline about the house and its inhabitants. This is where Kevin and Nicole first met, and here, as in New Hampshire where Kevin grew up, there are countless nature reserves and national parks. For their children, the couple decided to recreate this same scenario of unity with nature.

Today, the two-story stone and wood house more resembles a classic manor. As for interiors, they are, to say the least, unusual. To plan the interior design, designers first created a movie script about the house, showing Kevin a storyboard.

The interior features unique items from all corners of the world: 1920s vintage chairs, Bavarian antiques, vintage rattan pieces, and a Stuart dynasty-era sofa—bold yet delightful in its eclectic mix.

The kitchen in the house is a perfect blend of style and comfort, which makes sense as Kevin really enjoys cooking. The facades are adorned with brass inlays, and the kitchen island is crafted from walnut, also accented with brass.

The living room connects to the kitchen. The most important feature here is the view of the fairy-tale blue lake. There’s also a door leading to the porch, as if floating above Tahoe.

The bedrooms deserve special attention. Each one is decorated in a distinct style. For example, there’s the 'Hemingway Room' with a checkered carpet, vintage armchair, antique chest of drawers, and deer heads on the walls.

There’s a 'Bond-style' room and even a 'poet's bar district' where curtains made of wool blankets hang, and quotes from Bukowski embroidered on them make the interior even more amusing.

His daughter has grown up and also fell in love with Tahoe. It’s heartwarming to see! We go hiking in the woods, swim on the beach, and watch sunsets while observing old wooden boats passing by.
