How a Two-Room Apartment Became a Three-Room Flat with Kitchen in the Hall

Recently, we told about the interior of a Scandinavian apartment designed by Inna Velychko. Today, let's take a closer look at the reconfiguration. The designer managed to turn two rooms into three, decorate a spacious dining room, walk-in closet, and bathroom, while hiding the kitchen in a cabinet. We'll explain how it was done.

Since the apartment had a flexible layout, the designer was able to arrange the space according to her vision. The result was two living rooms with beds and workspaces, plus a spacious living-dining room. One of the bedrooms even featured a large walk-in closet.

Moved the Kitchen to the Hall

To transform a two-room flat into a three-room one, it was necessary to free up space in one of the rooms. To achieve this, the kitchen was relocated to the hall and hidden behind sliding doors: when closed, it's hard to guess that there are kitchen cabinets behind them.

This kind of reconfiguration can be agreed upon if you do not occupy space in a bedroom or bathroom and can easily install utilities into the room. You can read more about rules and exceptions in our article.

The bathroom was enlarged using the hall space: the designer managed to fit everything needed in that area. There was enough room for plumbing, a utility cabinet with a column of a washing machine and dryer, and even a small cabinet for bathroom accessories.
