Modern Types of Blinds
Thanks to their functionality, practicality, and ease of use, blinds are widely used in both residential and office interiors. The modern market offers a broad selection of blinds, differing in structural features, inherent advantages, and application areas.

Several of the most common types of blinds are distinguished:
- Classic horizontal blinds consist of slats placed strictly horizontally. They offer excellent sun protection and can darken any room. Horizontal blinds can be installed on each window sash separately, as well as on sloped surfaces and between frames. This type is universal and known for ease of operation and low maintenance.
- Vertical blinds have slats positioned perpendicularly to the floor. They create a diffused, soft light that gives a room a sense of comfort and warmth. With a convenient control mechanism, slats can be fixed and rotated at any angle. Thanks to the ability to choose slats of different lengths, vertical blinds are ideal for non-standard openings and arches. Opening them is very convenient: slats can slide from the center outward or from one edge to the opposite. The use of a chain mechanism in vertical blinds makes opening easier compared to horizontal types.
- A special type of horizontal blinds are inter-window blinds, installed directly between the panes on the interior side of the window. They are fixed to the inner frame and feature flexible controls routed through a hole in the window frame to the outside. This allows for sequential opening of both sashes. Inter-window blinds are commonly used in old wooden windows. Their advantages include:
- Inter-window blinds, due to their placement, accumulate less dust.
- These blinds do not reduce usable window space.
- Rolled blinds consist of a single fabric panel wound onto a horizontal roller. The fabric panel is lowered using a simple and convenient control mechanism. This type is highly versatile due to a wide range of available textures, colors, and patterns. Rolled blinds can be mounted in the window opening or attached to walls or ceilings.
- Protection against unauthorized entry through window or door openings is provided by security blinds, also known as roller shutters or roll-downs. Made from steel or strong aluminum, they reliably protect urban apartments, offices, shops, and cottages. Additionally, security blinds reduce heat loss during winter. Roller shutters offer an excellent alternative to traditional shutters and grilles.

Blinds are categorized by material as follows:
- Aluminum blinds: resistant to temperature fluctuations, high humidity, and dirt. Aluminum constructions are nearly indestructible and easy to maintain—just wipe with a soapy solution.
- Plastic blinds enhance the formal and simple look of a business office and look great on any kitchen. Currently, plastic blinds are used not only as sun protection but also to divide zones in small apartments and offices.
- Blinds made from non-woven materials are affordable but have a limited lifespan. They are not suitable for dirty or humid environments.
- Jacquard blinds are made from high-quality polyester fabric. They feature a textured pattern created by weaving in colored threads. Thanks to their special composition, jacquard blinds are firm, dust-repellent, and anti-static. They are fully eco-friendly and safe even for children’s rooms.
- Weave blinds resemble bamboo and blend perfectly into any interior. Unlike other blinds made from woven wood, these have a maximum slat length of 2 meters.
The variety of blind types allows you to choose the ideal sun protection solution based on the specific features and style of your space. Properly selected blinds will effectively shield rooms from sunlight and add a unique character to your interior.
