Placing Reading Lights in Interior: Tips + Schemes
What is needed to create a comfortable reading space? A comfortable chair, a side table and a light source. With the help of Leroy Merlin experts, we tell you which lights to choose for reading and work in different rooms.
Even in the smallest living room, there will be space for reading books or working with a laptop. For comfortable lighting in this area, provide a table lamp — for example, with textile or glass shades.
Wall lights will not dazzle the eyes if hung at the correct height — about 150 cm from the floor (depending on model and mounting type).

If your living room has a chair, add a coffee table and a floor lamp. Note that for right-handed people, it is more convenient to have the light source on the left, while for left-handed individuals, it should be on the right. Also, the height of the lamp from the floor matters: at least 125 cm — this way, pages will be evenly lit.

Bedroom
The main place for reading in the bedroom is, of course, the bed. For local lighting near the headboard, table lamps placed on bedside tables are suitable.
When choosing a model, pay attention to the material of the shade (it should not be too dense or the light will be insufficient) and to the construction (can the direction of the light beam be adjusted). Also, do not forget to plan outlets for lamps in advance.
An excellent option for reading lighting can be a table lamp. They save space on bedside tables or allow you to completely do without them. The optimal height from the floor to the light sources is 120-160 cm.

Child's Room
Do you regularly read books to your children before bedtime? Provide several light sources for this purpose. For example, a table lamp or a wall sconce that can change the direction of light. If you install a dimmer switch, the light near the headboard can serve as both a reading lamp and a nightlight.
