Proper Curtains Choice: 8 Tips
Choosing curtains for an apartment is not as simple as it may seem: each room has its own rules. We tell you about the nuances that will make your choice easier
Curtains are the final touch in interior design. The choice of fabric can either enhance the style of the interior or spoil it. We share useful tips to help you avoid mistakes in choosing material, color, and proportions.
1. Fabric
The choice of material for curtains largely depends on the type of room, amount of sunlight, and desired effect. The most durable fabrics that resist fading in sunlight are dense cotton and taffeta. For the shadow side, lightweight materials such as organdy, voile, viscose, or silk will be useful.

A practical option is warm and light shades that visually expand the room and, thanks to their universal color palette, harmonize well with interior design. You can go the opposite way — emphasize a bright curtain with a print.
Darker colors are better used in spacious rooms — such shades visually 'eat up' space.

Before measuring, think about what effect you want to achieve. Want to visually raise the ceiling? Hang curtains above the window frame, or lower them to the level of the window to make it shorter. Pipes and radiators can easily be masked with curtains that span the entire width of the wall.

One of the most popular types of tracks are wooden ones, which can easily be matched to floor or furniture color. The most practical are aluminum tracks — they are easy to bend and shape as needed. Plastic tracks offer a variety of finishes but are suitable only for curtains made from lightweight fabrics.

Curtains in the kitchen should not only serve as a decorative element but also meet important criteria: functionality, practical material, and ease of maintenance. Roller blinds that are easy to adjust in height from light and bright fabrics — an excellent option.

For the living room, a winning solution is classic style in the form of solid-colored fabric. If you feel that it looks too simple — decorate it with tassels or laces.

For comfortable sleep, choose curtains with lining or single-layer drapes made from dense fabrics like velvet, muslin, or taffeta. The best colors are subtle ones — they set a relaxing mood.

8. Children's Room
Vibrant colors, patterns, and cheerful prints are perfect for children's rooms. Remember about natural materials that collect less dust and do not cause allergies.
