No matter the size of your kitchen, every square centimeter counts. How to save space in your favorite room at home, make a small kitchen look bigger, or enhance a kitchen of medium size?

It's very simple! Try these tips:

1. Use a narrow built-in dishwasher – it fits under the countertop, so you can maximize workspace.

2. Choose a sink without backsplashes.

3. For cooking, two burners may be enough.

4. Install additional extendable countertops that sit under the main one and are supported by sliding drawers when in use.

5. Buy a built-in oven combined with a microwave.

6. Integrate the refrigerator into kitchen cabinetry to avoid visual clutter and excessive detailing. The more unified the kitchen looks, the more spacious it feels!

7. Consider using a sofa instead of a kitchen corner booth – a straight sofa takes up less space, can be custom-made, or selected from a furniture store, even with a fold-out bed mechanism (if you need space for guests)!

8. Use a round, small-diameter dining table with a foldable option. Or a wall-mounted or windowsill-mounted drop-down table.

9. Pay attention to windows: instead of hiding them behind curtains like Victorian-era people, let natural light in. Light is beneficial for health and can visually expand the space.

10. Glossy surfaces and mirror backsplashes help expand the space!

11. Get rid of clutter forever! Too many items make the kitchen feel smaller.

12. Wall colors: soft pastels or white. Avoid large patterns on wallpaper or tiles; minimize details that make the space feel smaller.

13. For flooring: use glossy finishes like laminate, wood, ceramic tile, marble, or certain types of stone – they reflect light and enhance the sense of space.

14. Paint the ceiling white, though a dark glossy suspended ceiling can also significantly increase the perceived height.

15. Add bright accessories: a few colorful vases on shelves, or vividly colored chairs. But only a few – not a full collection!

16. Paint lower cabinet fronts in bright colors, but keep countertops and upper kitchen furniture light – it’s a great idea! This will make the kitchen look airy and light.

17. Use additional accessories. Place mirrors on both sides of the kitchen or in niches: they reflect light and space. A large dark painting can draw attention and blur the boundaries of surrounding space.

18. Lighting: in addition to central lighting, use accent lighting under the dining table, on work surfaces, and along the base of cabinets with LED strips. More light makes the kitchen feel cozier and more spacious!

19. Go bold – consider a full renovation. For example, combine the kitchen with the living room. To enhance the effect, use the same light-colored flooring in both areas.

20. Or expand the space by incorporating a balcony – just remember to insulate the area properly and note that such a renovation requires official approval;)

Happy renovation!
