Terrazza Aperol in Milan Opens with a Bold New Design by Vudafieri-Saverino Partners
Located in the heart of Milan with views of the famous Piazza del Duomo, Terrazza Aperol in Milan unveiled its fresh new look right before the Milan Design Week 2025. The interior architecture project, conceived by Vudafieri-Saverino Partners, redefines the Aperol experience with an emphasis on social interaction, sustainable development, and elegance of Italian design.
Space Recreated for Unity
The recently renovated Terrazza Aperol embodies the brand's aesthetic rooted in warmth. Every element—from materials to layout—was carefully chosen to create a cozy and vibrant space for socializing. The updated design fosters spontaneous connections where guests can enjoy the iconic orange aperitif while immersing themselves in the spirit of Milan.
Architectural Synergy with Piazza del Duomo
Situated on the first floor of Metropoli del Duomo, Terrazza is accessible via the Motta Autogrill entrance. The interior harmonizes with the urban environment, creating a continuous dialogue between the indoor space and city life. Large windows offer panoramic views of the marble spires of the Duomo, seamlessly blending architectural history with modern design.
Sustainable Design and Sensory Impact
Architects Claudio Saverino and Tiziano Vudafieri, who previously designed the Aperol venue in Venice, used recycled corrugated polycarbonate as a key material. Applied to decorative walls and the bar, it is both eco-friendly and visually striking. The glossy orange-red finish makes the Milan bar a vibrant hub, while golden broken surfaces and mirrored niches add depth and warmth.
This theme continues with the Florim Sensi collection, a repurposed ceramic tile in sand color that creates a garland pattern reminiscent of classic Milanese parquet flooring. The result is a rich textural and color landscape that reflects innovation and tradition.
"Our goal was to create a place that invites warmth and connects the spatial experience with the joy of socializing," say architects Vudafieri and Saverino.
Immersive Visual Storytelling
Design details reflect Aperol's vibrant spirit. Illustrations by Vahram Muratyan on the bar wall reinterpret Milan's landmarks in a stylized, vivid form—each image plays with humor and admiration for the city and brand.
Behind the bar, glass shelves and pale gold steel displays showcase bottles as artistic objects, enhancing natural lighting within. These reflective surfaces create visual depth that shifts throughout the day with changing sunlight.
Immersion in an Aperitif Experience
The terrace features furniture in earthy tones that echo the natural materials used inside. Guests can enjoy an unlimited view of the bustling Piazza del Duomo, feeling the pulse of the city while relaxing in a cozy and upscale setting. The terrace becomes a social observation point—an ideal spot to watch the city come alive while sipping an expertly prepared Aperol Spritz.
Multifunctional Space for Modern Milan
With flexibility at its core, the layout supports the dynamic role of the venue: from morning bar to evening aperitif hub. It is a versatile space for casual meetups, business meetings, or celebrations. The Terrazza Aperol interior is more than just design—it's a carefully crafted experience reflecting Milan’s lifestyle and the youthful energy of Aperol.
