Just like any other floor covering, ceramic tiles also have a standard model known as the pattern. This standard size is easy to find in any building supply store and fits any type of room, with dimensions of 60×60 cm.

But this is not the only option. Check out the list below and see how versatile ceramic tile can be:

4.5×4.5 cm – size of well-known inserts;

6.5x23 cm – entrance tile (sizes may vary depending on the brand);

15.5×15.5 cm – traditional square tiles from the past;

30x35 cm – rectangular shape, often used on bathroom walls;

60x60 cm – here standard floor ceramic tile sizes begin;

80x80 cm – square and slightly larger than the previous one;

20x90 cm – rectangular format in a ruler style, often used to imitate wooden floors. Size may also vary up to 30x90 cm;

90x90 cm – here large format ceramic tiles begin;

20x120 cm – another popular size of ruler-style ceramic tile, imitating wooden floors. Some brands offer a 30x120 cm option;

60x120 cm – rectangular large format ceramic tile;

120x120 cm – here large format ceramic tiles are presented in square version;

120x270 cm – known as a baluster, this type of giant ceramic tile is increasingly used in projects requiring continuous and seamless appearance, including countertops and work surfaces. Some brands offer giant ceramic tiles up to 360 cm in size.

These are just some of the most common sizes of ceramic tile found on the market.

Ceramic Tile Size and Installation

Another thing to know is that the size of ceramic tile also affects installation. Rectangular formats allow for more layout options. For floors, you can choose horizontal or vertical laying depending on the desired visual effect. Tip: avoid diagonal laying as it requires much more tiles.

For walls, the variety of layouts increases. You can choose traditional horizontal or vertical laying models, but there are also options for more modern and classic styles such as sailboat or fish scale patterns.

But remember, this type of installation works only with rectangular ceramic tiles.
