The Pomarino House is an impressive modern residence located at the corner of two main streets in the protected community of Porongo, Bolivia. This 476.5 square meter home features an L-shaped design and sits between beautifully landscaped spaces. The project was developed by the architectural studio Sommet and follows their design concept, which can be seen in the GG House project in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and the PP House in the same city of Porongo.

The Pomarino House is positioned at the corner of two main streets that form a gated community. This L-shaped structure opens to neighbors to maximize views from all sides. Since privacy was not a concern for the homeowners, we placed the pool in the most visible corner to highlight the architectural design and make the house more open to its surroundings.

The house utilizes the natural slope of the terrain and is situated on top of a hill. As such, underground spaces are hidden from public view, making the garage and service areas discreet.

The house consists of two main volumes located on top of the hill and overlapping each other. The space below the upper volume forms a gallery connecting the house to the pool and serving as the main entrance. This corridor connects the gallery to the kitchen, living room, and service kitchen, which are arranged in an open plan. The independent volume behind the gallery contains service rooms: laundry room, bathroom, and sauna.

The upper level includes 4 bedrooms and a family room. All bedrooms open to the roof with a terrace offering views of the surroundings. In this home, we used floor-to-ceiling glass windows to maximize views and emphasize the connection with the outside world. The living room is surrounded by glass walls on both sides, allowing people to enjoy open views and creating a natural flow between interior and exterior spaces.
