Pavilosta Residence by OAD in Latvia

Located in the cozy city of Pavilosta, this residence skillfully combines traditions with modern design. Inspired by bright wooden houses from the old fishing village, the architecture absorbs the flowering aesthetic of narrow cobblestone streets with colorful houses.

Capturing the spirit of a sea breeze in its construction, this house becomes a bright oasis for the family. Reflecting rhythms and strength of the Baltic Sea, every aspect of its exterior is carefully planned for a harmonious blend with natural conditions. Thoughtfully placed and overall layout of the house honors the sea, allowing residents to feel its calm and invigorating presence even from a distance. Every architectural detail is designed to convey panoramic views, fresh sea breeze and unique coastal lighting, transforming this structure into a living image of the Baltic coastline.

According to urban building regulations, the residence features a gabled roof and embodies maritime architectural tradition. Despite its size, the house exudes humanity and harmony with its environment. Its orientation parallel to the sea makes it transparent. Full-height windows not only decorate the structure but also offer views of the sea even from a cozy courtyard.

The wooden construction of the building, reminiscent of local traditions, extends beyond the facade. Inside the house thrives in simplicity and authenticity. Using materials such as wood, veneer, concrete and metal, the design tells a story rooted in Latvian feelings and wild coastal beauty. Color becomes a storyteller, with the house's hue inspired by the characteristic sea blue of Pavilosta, reminding of times when the city was a canvas of vivid shades.

Beyond aesthetics, the house also integrates a ventilation system, highlighting its commitment to sustainable development. Loft spaces designed for guests or children add multifunctionality to the design. Form and function meet in details such as window blinds, perfectly suited for ensuring privacy and protection of the countryside house during inactive periods. The kitchen presents a harmonious blend of design, location and simplicity.

Every element inside the interior is thoughtfully planned, devoid of excesses and carefully chosen to emphasize clean design. The choice of materials such as plywood and wooden planks reinforces the pursuit of simplicity. The result is not just a space; it's a living experience where majestic external landscapes harmonize with minimalist interiors. Views of the sea and coastal meadows enrich overall perception, transforming simple design into a deep connection with nature.

The sauna embodies the integration of architecture and natural landscape. An extended glass wall, a conscious architectural choice, serves not just as a window but as a channel between inner and outer space, person and nature. The wildness of the sea, captured through this transparent boundary, underlines the minimalist design within. Each wave, tide and ebb is reflected in the room's function, offering invigorating connection and peaceful rest.

Connecting the main house with auxiliary structures, the transparent glass veranda becomes a retreat after the sauna. This space is adorned with a dual-sided fireplace, uniting both structures and providing warmth and atmosphere. From concept to realization, this Pavilosta Residence by OAD reflects OAD's dedication to creating spaces that not only fit into their environment but also glorify it. Through conscious design and deep respect for context, this house becomes a testament to architecture that listens, responds and ultimately belongs.
