The architects of Ganna Design studio based their project on two formative ideas: a zigzag bend and honeycomb cells.
Almost square in plan, the apartment is organized according to the concept of a honeycomb without corridors between rooms. Three bedrooms are grouped around the living room with an open layout; rotating doors between spaces create a unified flexible space that can always be made isolated and private when desired.
The dividing wall between the main and secondary bedroom is designed with a zigzag curve that matches the placement of the beam and support. This allows the sizes of these two rooms to be independent of window location and structural support.
The common area, which includes the kitchen, dining room, and living room, begins with a long zigzag light strip on the ceiling that visually makes the room deeper. This zigzag, like a house password, hides light within its curve and inspires a desire to explore the apartment space.
The center of the common area is the kitchen island. Marble worktops, hidden wooden cabinet storage, and a blue glass display case create a dialogue between different textures.
White walls in the bathroom are tiled with honeycomb-shaped tiles, also used in the owners' bedroom. The honeycomb pattern reinforces the home's "design concept" embodied in its layout. Towel hooks mounted on the ceiling add elegance to the bathroom and increase the number of visual layers present.
