Windows and Doors in Interior Design

Following the trends of modernity, we replace wooden frames with PVC glass units. And in place of wooden doors come new, iron ones.

And so, a large amount of old windows and doors ends up on the dump. If it's outside the city, there might even be shutters next to the windows. Today we will find the most original use for them in interior decoration.

Let's start with a door that has served its time. It can become a cute coffee table in a country style.

For this, you will need:

  • the door itself
  • a planer or sandpaper
  • paint
  • four wooden strips (same diameter and height), or ready-made parts that will become the legs
  • nails or screws.

First, using a planer or coarse sandpaper, make the door completely smooth so that no splinters are left for someone who decides to have a meal at such a table. Then paint the wooden strips and the door in the desired color.

After the paint has fully dried, assemble the entire structure. Use screws or long nails (whichever is more convenient). Then apply a second coat of paint to the "table". That's it, the improvised table is ready. It seems like exactly at such tables hobbits and elves dine.

Now let's find a use for window frames and shutters. Not a lot, but we'll make an entire wall out of them!

You will need:

  • old window frames and shutters
  • screws
  • various paints
  • photo wallpapers.

Prepare the wall you want to turn into a window. For this, level all uneven spots and paint it. Then begin attaching frames and shutters to the wall using screws.

The shutters can be made hinged.

Once you finish decorating the wall, paint the shutters and frames in different colors. Inside some of the frames and shutters (or all of them), paste photo wallpapers.

These can be images of nature (mountains, sea, waterfalls, forests), or, for example, different photos in each window (Eiffel Tower, Tower Bridge, view from your window). Thus, in a quiet wall of an apartment, you have carved a window into the new world.
