Casa Loto | Unorthodox Designs | Kailash Hills, Delhi, India
Quiet Urban Retreat with Lotus Temple View
In the dense urban structure of Kailash Hills area in Delhi, Casa Loto by Unorthodox Designs serves as an elegant corner of light, texture and tranquility. Just a few steps from the famous Lotus Temple, the house embodies the symbolism of the sacred lotus—calm emerging from chaos—in an architectural language of balance and elegance.
Designed for a young family of three, the house embodies budget luxury, combining individual details with compact efficiency. Each space emphasizes soft lighting, airy proportions and a palette of warm neutral tones with refined textures.
Concept and Architectural Philosophy
Casa Loto unfolds on three levels, each reflecting a different aspect of family life—social, personal and festive.
The design philosophy reflects Unorthodox Designs' belief in human luxury: elegant yet affordable, individual and timeless. Soft tropical wallpapers, ornate stone finishes and light decorative elements create an elegant backdrop that blends urban energy with domestic tranquility. Natural light filters through wide openings and reflects the rhythm of the day, highlighting the spatial fluidity of the house.
Spacial Organization
First Floor – Social Core
The first level serves as the heart of the house, including a bright living room, spacious dining niche and modern open kitchen. This dual-level design creates an intuitive sequence supporting both intimate family moments and large gatherings. Large windows offer a view of the Lotus Temple, allowing its spiritual symbol to become a constant part of the home.
Second Floor – Personal Sanctuary
Ascending higher, two well-equipped bedrooms and a flexible family lounge are located on the second floor. The lounge easily transforms into a bar or entertainment zone, showcasing the studio's focus on adaptive urban lifestyle. The combination of soft lighting and muted textures creates a soothing atmosphere that balances luxury with comfort.
Rooftop – Sky Lounge Area
The upper level concludes with a rooftop terrace, designed for relaxation and admiration. Here, grass, a cozy bar and an unobstructed view of the Lotus Temple offer a place to observe as the sun sets over Delhi's horizon.
Materials and Mood
The palette includes light beige and white tones, enhanced with warm wooden finishes and tropical green motifs. Stone finishes add depth and texture, while tropical prints gently immerse the modern frame in a welcoming familiarity. Soft lighting accentuates each material's character, transforming the house into a canvas of light and elegance.
Casa Loto is an exploration of modesty and sophistication—a city home that appears stable yet inspiring. The blend of practical planning with individual design, Unorthodox Designs created housing that embodies the spirit of modern Delhi: fast-paced yet deeply connected to its context and heritage.
With a view of the Lotus Temple, Casa Loto pays homage to the beauty of balance—between light and material, privacy and vista, simplicity and luxury.
