Grillato Ceiling – Fresh Solution for Room Finishing
The term "grillato" refers to a raster grid ceiling.
A grillato ceiling is mainly used in public buildings, but it can also be used to create an original design in residential spaces.
Essentially, a grillato ceiling is one solid grid. Like any suspended ceiling, grillato consists of a suspension system and main elements. Both are aluminum profiles of different lengths and widths. They form cells of various sizes.
The color palette of the ceiling is diverse – you can order decorative coating for profiles in any of many shades, but the most popular traditional colors are: white, gold, silver, matte metal, chrome.
The grillato ceiling set includes corner profiles, load-bearing profiles of several types, adjustable suspensions, profile elements ("mom" and "dad"), and connecting elements.
Cell sizes typically range from 30*30 to 200*200 mm, but in addition to the classic grillato, there are other types of grid ceiling depending on cell size, profile type, and design (e.g., "blinds", pyramidal, non-standard cell, multi-level ceiling).
Various manufacturers offer aluminum grillato ceilings, such as the Russian company Albes and the Ukrainian AMTT.

Due to its structure, the ceiling looks whole, light, airy, and stylish.
Using grillato in combination with other types of suspended ceilings, including mineral boards, stained glass, gypsum board, and others, you can create a non-standard design.
Metals and decorative coatings are durable, moisture-resistant, resistant to light and temperature effects, fireproof – the ceiling is fire-safe.
Communication lines are well hidden behind a grid ceiling, and with sufficient cell size, easy access can be organized. A suspended ceiling can optimize room height – make high ceilings lower or visually increase height.
The grid structure of the ceiling allows playing with lighting effects. Light fixtures can be placed behind the grid, under it, or embedded into it.

Grillato Ceiling Installation
Installing a grillato ceiling takes more time than installing other types of suspended ceilings due to the need to assemble the main elements – grids.
The installation process of guide profiles is similar to assembling an Armstrong-type suspension system: in the classic version, squares of 600*600 mm or another appropriate size for grids should be formed.
The suspension system is installed using U-shaped or T-shaped profiles depending on the type of grillato. Standard U-profiles come in lengths of 2400, 1800, 1200, and 600 mm and are joined together using special connecting elements included in the suspended ceiling kit.
Load-bearing profiles are secured to the ceiling every meter with adjustable suspensions. Profiles have slots into which grids made from "mom" and "dad" elements are mounted. At the perimeter, corner profiles are installed, and if necessary, end elements of the suspension system are cut to the required length. Thus, the grillato ceiling is installed.
