Cool budget renovation without a designer!

This bathroom is located in a three-room Brezhnev-era apartment with an area of 62 sq. m. Ksenia Kuznetsova @kuznechik_home designed and equipped it herself, without the help of a designer. The interior has no trends at all, but it looks stylish, contemporary and will remain so for many years.

Before the renovation, the bathroom was a separate room with outdated finishing and plumbing. The old decor was unattractive and non-functional. The lack of space for a washing machine and storage area created additional inconvenience. Updating was needed not only from a style perspective but also to improve functionality — all this within quite modest budget.

The bathroom was combined by changing the layout. The bathtub, toilet, sink and towel warmer were relocated. For floor finishing, ceramic granite imitating natural wood texture was chosen. Walls were clad with budget floor tiles without a pronounced pattern — they create a minimalist calm 'background' and relaxing atmosphere.

The countertop under the sink was made from a furniture board of coniferous woods and coated with natural oil-wax in the shade 'dark walnut'. Behind the curtain are a laundry basket, utilities and a 'household block' with necessary washing products. The curtain made from water-repellent fabric was sewn in a tailor shop and glued with Velcro. It helps hide unwanted elements while ensuring easy access and simple cleaning.

The bathroom feature is a wooden frame for the mirror made by Ksenia. The elegant tile framing gives it sophistication and completeness. The warm wood tone contrasts with the cold tiles, creating a harmonious combination. The mirror not only visually expands the bathroom but also adds coziness by reflecting the owner's individuality and uniting all interior details.

Matte gold faucets look solid and unusual. They create a cozy atmosphere and add uniqueness to the space. But according to Ksenia, this was one of the most impractical decisions: the matte finish requires special and constant care as water stains and film appear instantly. Despite this, its visual impact makes it an attractive choice for modern design.
