Minimalist and Light: How They Designed a Stylish Entrance in a Stalin-era Apartment
The entrance area sets the tone for the entire interior
The first impression of a home is always formed in the entrance hall: in this project, designer Yuri Vorobiev did everything to make the space not just positive, but truly inspiring. The interior of a 1953 Stalin-era apartment was developed for a young woman in love with warm countries, comfort, and natural motifs.
Green dwarf parrot — the owner's pet — and the atmosphere of southern latitudes, where light, vegetation, and textures create a sense of calm and softness, were the inspiration.
They carried out a reconfiguration in the apartment: the kitchen was merged with the living room, the bathroom and wardrobe were enlarged. However, they decided not to isolate the entrance hall — it remained a connecting element between all rooms. Thanks to high ceilings (3 meters) and an abundance of natural light from the adjacent side, designers were able to make the entrance area not just a utilitarian space but a full part of a cozy and vibrant interior.
Design: Yuri VorobievThe main wall color — a soft green — was chosen not by chance: it reminds of young leaves, sets a relaxing rhythm and connects the entrance hall with other rooms where this shade is also present.
One of the walls was decorated with a large bamboo panel, creating the effect of a shaded alley. The motif not only adds visual depth but also reinforces associations with nature that literally "enters" the home.
Design: Yuri VorobievDetails are thought out with jeweler's precision. A bench with a geometric pattern in lime tone harmonizes with the palette while remaining an eye-catching detail. Above it is a tall mirror in a thin golden frame, visually expanding the space and adding morning light.
Design: Yuri VorobievLight fixtures in the form of matte spheres float above the entrance area like light drops of light. This type of lighting emphasizes the architecture of the room and makes the interior especially warm in the evening.
Design: Yuri VorobievThe entrance hall is not just a passageway but a place where the story of the apartment begins. It conveys the main principles of the project: gentleness, naturalness, and connection with nature. There is nothing superfluous here, yet every element supports the feeling of lightness that is so valuable in urban rhythm.
