This countryside cottage with a second attic floor is located in the Dmitrovsky district of the Moscow region. Interior designer Alexander Mershiev renovated the house for himself: he repainted the walls in various saturated shades, reupholstered furniture, and made many interior items by hand. The entire renovation took 750 thousand rubles over two years.

House before renovation

A standard Soviet-era countryside cottage with an attic floor is located on a 6-sot plot. It has three rooms and a veranda. At the time of purchase, the interior walls and ceiling were covered with boarding, and the floor was painted dark brown. The main task was to transform the interior, update the finishing, and furniture.

House after renovation

Almost all the work was done by Alexander himself. He only hired a specialist to restore the stove, and workers helped restore the rotting corner of the house. Now the house has a hallway, a kitchen-veranda, a stove room, and a bedroom; on the attic floor — an office and a guest room.

Alexander painted the walls and ceiling of the kitchen-veranda in a warm yellow tone, which creates a cozy atmosphere and a feeling of sunshine at any time of the year. The doors are in a soft blue color, and the floor is made in a natural green tone. The lower section of the kitchen unit was assembled from various sections, the facades were repainted, and the countertops and handles are new. One of the sections houses a refrigerator painted in the color of the facades.

Alexander bought the dining table from a restorer and repainted its countertop, which now looks like a tablecloth. On the 1970s chairs, he replaced rattan seats with seats covered in soft fabric. Alexander also made the suspended shelf between doorways himself, beautifully framing it with carved moldings brought from Nizhny Novgorod.

Alexander decided to place the bedroom on the first floor — it's more convenient for him. The color of the veranda door transitions into the rooms, appearing in a more saturated variant. The bedroom interior contains only what is necessary: a new bed with a comfortable mattress and wardrobes left over from previous owners.

The stove in the house was repaired and painted — it not only efficiently warms the room but also allows preparing food. This aesthetically pleasing object creates a cozy atmosphere, uniting traditions and modern style.

Alexander independently reupholstered all the soft furniture and changed its internal filling. The choice of fabric and color gives the rooms originality and style, highlighting the owner's individuality. A pattern of a national Kazakh carpet appeared on the countertop of the coffee table. The lantern in the form of a yurt is also a kind of homage to Alexander's childhood, who was born in Kazakhstan.

The facade of the house was completely repainted in green. Blue shutters harmoniously contrast with the main palette, adding bright accents and highlighting the originality of the designer's solution. The bright red front door completes this bold design, inviting guests inside. Thus, the color composition not only delights the eye but also reflects the individuality of the house owner.
