Warm Family Home: How Designer Decorated an Atmospheric Entrance Hall
It turned out cozy, noble and tasteful
A 48 square meter apartment is located in one of Moscow's central districts. The owner is a person who is passionate about the atmosphere of the city and its past. Together with designer Ksenia Eliseeva, they created an interior that seems to reflect the history of a Moscow family: there are items referring to pre-revolutionary times, details with a Soviet modernist mood and contemporary accents seamlessly integrated into the concept.
Design: Ksenia EliseevaThey preserved the original layout and antique parquet. The designer focused on deep tones, classical lines, quality materials and lighting scenarios that zone the space. The apartment turned out cohesive — everything is subordinate to the idea of continuity across eras and respect for the memory of the place.
Design: Ksenia EliseevaFrom the threshold, the interior sets the right mood: a muted gray-beige wall tone, symmetrically placed moldings, neat baseboards and cornices create a feeling of calmness and respectability. The entrance hall is quite compact but thoughtfully decorated with attention to detail — one can sense Moscow's intellectual culture and a nod to classical European interiors.
Design: Ksenia EliseevaOn one side, a deep built-in wardrobe with paint-finish facades and neat brass handles was placed. It was made according to an individual project and maximizes vertical space.
On the other side — an elegant console made of dark wood with decorative handles and a thin brass edging. It is topped by a classic table lamp with a milk glass shade. Above the console — an antique photo of Moscow, framed in dark wood: a touch reflecting the owner's love for the city.
Design: Ksenia EliseevaNext to it on the wall — an oval mirror in a wooden frame and hooks for outerwear. The floor covering is oak parquet that was preserved from the previous renovation.
A black entrance door with carving and retro switches complete the look. All together creates a feeling as if you've come to visit relatives.
