How a Designer Decorated a Kitchen Without Upper Cabinets and Range Hood
The interior turned out to be simultaneously light, cozy, and nostalgic
A 54-square-meter apartment was decorated by designer Tatiana Atyukina for a client who works as an HR specialist, loves music and collects vintage furniture.

Helpful was the fortunate window placement: the southwest side makes the space sunny, so the designer removed the doors between rooms to let light reach all areas. The budget was limited, but the designer managed to preserve individuality. All decisions were based on a balance between aesthetics and functionality.
Design: Tatiana AtyukinaThanks to thoughtful planning, an interior was created where old items don't look random but become a meaningful focal point.
The kitchen was custom-made to meet the client's needs. The lower part of the cabinet hides a washing machine, trash bin, dryer and storage spaces — everything needed is within reach but nothing clutters the space.
Design: Tatiana AtyukinaUpper cabinets and a range hood were not installed: the client cooks rarely, so the designer chose visual lightness. By avoiding upper storage, the kitchen seems to 'breathe' — freedom and brightness appear.
Design: Tatiana AtyukinaThe prep area draws attention: two levels of ceramic tile — smooth and textured — create depth and provide functionality.

Pasteel floral wallpaper is used above: it adds coziness and softly connects the kitchen with the bedroom where this pattern was also applied.
Design: Tatiana AtyukinaDespite the modest budget, the kitchen turned out to be atmospheric and well-thought-out. There's no unnecessary space — only what is truly needed by the client. The choice of non-typical solutions worked in favor: the space feels airy and genuinely homey.
