Solutions that are easy to replicate in your own interior

This beautiful kitchen in a Stalin-era flat was decorated by designer Ekaterina Kotalyevskaya for her family. In the old building, they made a coordinated reconfiguration — closed the opening between the kitchen and hallway, having previously given up gas. Ekaterina carefully planned every detail of the kitchen design and its layout. We tell you about the features of organizing this bright and functional space.

For wall finishing, they chose light base tones that give a sense of spaciousness and lightness. One of the walls was highlighted with an accent blue color — it draws attention and adds depth to the space. The kitchen cabinet is also in blue, which beautifully contrasts with the mustard-toned tiles on the backsplash.

One of the interesting finds is preserving the concrete beam running along the entire apartment. This solution looks original and adds character to the room. The junction between walls and ceiling is rounded, visually increasing the ceiling height.

To ensure enough light and allow it to flow throughout the apartment, a row of glass blocks was built into the wall between the kitchen and children's room. This solution adds a sense of openness and light, as well as visually unites the two zones. In addition, there is a glass block “window” between the kitchen and bathroom — it creates an effect of openness and connection between the spaces.

The kitchen window is accentuated in color, which creates the effect of an elongated French window. Below it, the designer neatly concealed a refrigerator cabinet, making the space neater and more functional.

In the center of the kitchen is a round dining table covered with a tablecloth. Soft chairs in a round shape create a cozy atmosphere. Above the table is an accent light fixture that not only illuminates the space but also serves as a stylish design element.
