How to Create a Bright and Functional Interior: 7 Ideas for Inspiration

Creating a cozy and stylish interior is not only about choosing furniture and finishes, but also paying attention to details. Designers Anastasia Rybakova and Nadezhda Stepanova from the AN.NA design bureau decorated a functional and colorful interior in a 54 sq. m two-room apartment that reflects the individuality of the client—a young female student. Rational Use of Space

In the renovated interior, storage was optimized in the kitchen by placing all essentials in the lower cabinet section of the kitchen unit. This allowed for doing away with some upper cabinets, visually freeing up space. Instead, a stylish shelf appeared on the wall where decorative elements and beautiful dishes were placed.

Vibrant Wall Accents

Combining bright accents with neutral wall colors creates a stylish contrast. The yellow arch in the dining area and the colored accent behind the bedside table in the bedroom make the interior more dynamic, adding uniqueness to it.

Yellow Ceiling

This bold and vibrant choice brought joy and comfort into the living room. Yellow pairs beautifully with neutral walls. It is associated with sunlight and warmth, making the space feel brighter and more airy.

Unusual Window Treatment

Windows were decorated with wooden shutters that bring a unique style and comfort to the interior, changing the atmosphere in the rooms throughout the day. On sunny days, they cast an incredible shadow pattern, playing with light and shadow depending on the position of the sun.

Cozy Reading Nook

Considering the client's passion for books and her extensive collection, a cozy reading nook was arranged in the living room. A tall bookshelf was placed near the wall, and a soft armchair was positioned nearby, complemented with warm lighting. The young woman is of short stature, so a ladder was added to the design.

Unusual Tile Shape

Small tiles of a unique capsule shape were chosen for the bathroom—this design choice immediately draws attention and adds an elegant touch to the interior. Such tiles create an interesting texture, giving the space a modern and stylish appearance.

Functional Pegboard

The pegboard in the entrance hall can serve multiple purposes: storing bags, accessories, and small shelves for keys. In this apartment, the pegboard not only helps maintain order but also adds a stylish and original accent.
