The space was made as functional and beautiful as possible

This 38 sqm studio in Saint Petersburg is the result of self-planned design and renovation. Anastasia, a textile designer, and her husband Maxim, who works in IT, were looking for convenient apartment layout rather than spacious living space. Our heroes wanted to create a functional and stylish space while staying within a reasonable budget.

During the renovation, the bathroom turned out to be one of the most challenging areas: its area was less than 4 sqm, and after receiving the keys, it became clear that the ventilation duct was taking up 30 cm. But even under such conditions, it was possible to fit a full bathtub, installation, and washing machine.

To save space, they chose the narrowest installation — it's more expensive than standard ones but allowed them to keep room for opening the washing machine door.

For storage, they organized a cabinet above the installation where they could fit household chemicals, supplies, and small items. They chose a folding bucket.

Lighting was thought out down to the smallest detail: main ceiling spots and a decorative pendant with warm light create a cozy atmosphere for evening routines. Instead of a regular vinyl curtain, they used a double system — the inner layer is waterproof, and the outer one is textile.

The bathroom turned out compact but expressive. They used ornamental tiles on the floor to add visual dynamics.

For the owner, it was important that the interior not be boring. She didn't hesitate to combine colors and patterns, so she chose three types of ornamental tiles in different zones of the apartment. As a result, the bathroom became more than just a utility room — it turned into a stylish and thought-out space where it's pleasant to start and end the day.
