Before and After: 5 Bathroom Renovations in Khrushchyovkas That Will Inspire You
How to Create a Comfortable and Modern Space in a Small Bathroom
Bathroom renovation in a Khrushchyovka is always a challenge: old utilities, modest dimensions, and inconvenient layouts. It's especially difficult to arrange a bathroom where every centimeter counts. But with the right approach, you can transform a standard bathroom into a stylish and functional space.
Designers and owners of these apartments rethought the layout, selected appropriate finishing materials, and added interesting details that made the interior both convenient and modern. We share inspiring examples: they will help you plan your own renovation.
Elegance and Functionality
Designer Olga Pushkarova decorated this small bathroom, creating a stylish and comfortable interior for a married couple with a student son. The apartment turned out to be elegant and refined: the designer used interesting solutions in finishing, selected beautiful lighting fixtures, and focused on functionality.
Photo before renovation For bathroom finishing, they used a combination of two types of tiles: large-format "marble-like" and contrasting Spanish tiles, which together create an interesting dynamic. An accent in the shower area was made using mosaic, which added depth to the interior.

Designers from Moscow's Mirburo studio proved that stylish renovations don't have to be expensive. In this 31 m² flat, they used ready-made solutions, affordable materials, and unconventional ideas. The result was a comfortable space that met all the client's wishes.

For convenience, a shower cabin was installed instead of a bathtub. The sink with a suspended cabinet makes cleaning easier and doesn't clutter the space.

The bathroom finishing repeated the color palette of other rooms, but added an accent — vibrant yellow tiles were used, which immediately draw attention. This shade creates a feeling of warmth and comfort, as well as visually makes the space brighter and more dynamic.
Design: Galina OvchinnikovaAs a base surface, they used light ceramic granite, which was also applied to the kitchen backsplash and window openings. This allows the bathroom to harmoniously blend into the overall apartment style. Functionality was planned down to the smallest detail: a cabinet with an integrated sink was installed, and space for a washing machine was provided.

Designer Roman Ivanov from Studio ANRI completely renovated the typical Khrushchyovka, including the bathroom. One of the key solutions was using glass blocks: thanks to them, natural light from the kitchen penetrates into the shower area, making the room feel more spacious.

Designers Lena and Georgy Amosov worked on renovating an apartment in Taganrog, where the key tasks were comfort and practicality. The result was a bright, calm interior.
