Portion of inspiration and interesting design solutions

Designer Elvira Stankievich inherited this two-story cottage as an inheritance. She carefully restored the house and transformed it into a cozy and functional space for permanent residence. We show how the kitchen was transformed.

Overview of this house (31 minutes)

Before the renovation, this was a typical country kitchen with a stove and lifeless furniture. The walls were finished with boarding, and linoleum was laid on the floor. It was necessary to completely change the finish, plan functional elements, and create a beautiful design.

The new interior is bright, cozy, with vivid details. The walls and ceiling are finished with imitation of timber and painted with dense paint in a light color. Ceramic granite is laid on the floor as one covering.

The linear kitchen unit is located in its previous spot, along the window. The fronts are made of MDF with accent green enamel. The kitchen is equipped with all necessary modern appliances: dishwasher, microwave oven with convection function, two-burner gas range, extractor hood, water filter (the refrigerator was moved to the hallway next to the kitchen). There is enough storage space behind the fronts.

The main highlight of the kitchen is a real stove in the corner. It is functional but now serves only as an art object. It was clad with beautiful tiles in the style of tiles and complemented with authentically Russian elements — a samovar and a kerosene lamp that were inherited from parents. The samovar is actively used, especially with guests.

Another striking accent is the glass panels on the doors to the living room. Elvira painted them by hand using special paints. She sketched a firebird from an old family photograph and stylized it as a stained glass window. The glass panels are coated with stained glass film on top.
