Before and After: How They Transformed the Bathroom in a Vintage Apartment
Get inspired and adopt interesting ideas
This stylish bathroom was designed by interior designer Galina Ovchinnikova in a 43 sq. m two-room apartment in a Khrushchyovka building. The main task was to create a convenient and ergonomic layout, and to design a neutral yet vibrant and memorable interior.
Overview of this apartment (30 minutes)

Before the renovation, the bathroom was separate. It consisted of two cramped spaces that lacked storage space. The functional efficiency needed to be improved and a modern interior had to be created.

To improve functionality and accommodate everything necessary, the bathroom was combined. Its new area is 4.27 sq. m. The wall and floor finishes replicated the color palette of other rooms, using the same ceramic granite as on the windowsills and window openings.

They removed the bathtub and installed a shower cabin instead. A small niche was provided in the cabin for storing bath essentials. Next to the shower is a vertical electric towel heater with hooks for towels or robes.

Beneath the spacious countertop with an integrated sink, there are two deep sliding drawers and a washing machine-dryer. A large mirror above them expands the space and adds depth, creating a real wow effect. Functional solution – a sliding mini-dryer located to the right of the entrance door.

Access to utilities is hidden behind the blind panels over the installation. A suspended toilet makes the interior modern and stylish. The floor under it is very easy to clean, making it simpler to maintain hygiene in the room.
