Before and After: Updating a 52 m² Apartment in an Old Brick House
How to give a boring interior a new life without major re-planning
Designer Anastasia Gromova updated the interior of a two-bedroom apartment for a young family. The client wanted to combine classic elements with modern Scandinavian design features, using natural materials in furniture and decor.
Kitchen Before Renovation
The kitchen already had brick cladding and a kitchen cabinet, but the client wanted to finish the look.
Kitchen After Renovation
The layout satisfied the client, so no major changes were made. The open brick was retained, and the cabinet fronts were replaced with new ones. "On the kitchen, we restored the niche corner and the bricks so that the display case and open shelves would fit nicely. I was very worried that everything would align correctly, but there were some issues after the cabinet installation, but the craftsmen fixed everything," says the designer.

Living Room Before Renovation
The living room had several functional zones, which needed to be preserved, but the interior should also feel cozier and more modern.

Living Room After Renovation
Wallpaper designed for painting and Swiss Lake paint (with a palette of light tones) were used for finishing. The old package was restored and repainted in a light shade. Mid-century style furniture was added.

Bedroom Before Renovation
The bedroom was very small, the walls were painted in a green shade and dark green curtains were added, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere. The bedroom had a balcony access.

Bedroom After Renovation
The designer completely changed the color palette: beige tones and natural wood saved the situation and added airiness and warmth to the room.

"The bedroom has an incredible balcony. Originally it was completely unremarkable and unattractive, but we decided to turn it into a Parisian balcony with beautiful carved metal furniture and lots of flowers," says the designer.

Hallway and Entrance Before Renovation
The entrance was very ordinary, with open storage systems and an unattractive floor.
Entrance After Renovation
The floor was painted in a light shade, the lighting was changed to more modern fixtures, and new furniture was installed. The entrance warmly greets guests from the threshold.
