Simple and Effective Solutions for Compact Spaces of 37 m²
Maximized the potential of the apartment, packed it with furniture, appliances, textiles, decor, and stayed within a small budget
Designer Olga Kondrashova decorated a one-room apartment for a family couple from Irkutsk. They purchased the property for investment purposes to rent out on a daily basis. It was important to create a vibrant interior that would stand out in the rental market, provide storage space, and accommodate four sleeping places.
City: Saint Petersburg, Project "Autograph"
Area: 37.9 sq. m
Rooms: 1
Bathrooms: 1
ceiling height: 3 m
Budget: 620 thousand rubles
Designer: Olga Kondrashova
Photographer: Kristina Plier
Stylist: Olga Kondrashova
Layout
The developer's standard layout was kept. Textured wallpapers for painting and quartz vinyl flooring were used in the standard finish. The sink cabinet in the bathroom was replaced, and a couple of sockets in the kitchen work zone were moved to support the modular cabinet project.
"The interior was built from two things — a red refrigerator and a cotton carpet DECOR MAGIC. Then, like assembling puzzle pieces one by one, accents and details were added, creating a complete picture," — designer Olga Kondrashova shares.

Kitchen
The kitchen zone was not relocated, and connections were made exactly to the outputs designed by the developer. The modular kitchen consists of two parts. The first part used standard cabinets, while the second part is a cabinet-free zone. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, sink, and dish dryer. A two-burner stove is installed. There is forced ventilation (on the ceiling) to the left of the stove, which completely eliminates odors if someone in the apartment prepares aromatic dishes.

Dining Area
The dining area features a round table and soft chairs in various colors. This unique approach highlights the dining zone. Despite the table being snug against the wall, it can comfortably accommodate four people. All items in the dining set have rounded soft shapes and do not look bulky or overcrowded. Stylish and eye-catching tableware adds a delightful touch to the setting.

The dining area also includes a color accent — a circle on the wall. It serves as an elegant decoration for the light surface, refreshing the space and adding a playful note.

Posters on the walls were specially created for this project. They were accompanied by a special, multi-layered matting. These posters convey personal meaning — love for St. Petersburg, adventures and travel, airplanes, and coffee. The matting is done in red-ribbon paper. Postcards "Speak Like a Petersburg Resident" highlighting the differences between Moscow and St. Petersburg vocabulary add humor and surely make guests smile.
"I was waiting for that project where I could decorate the interior with the print 'Goose Foot' — and the moment came!" — designer Olga Kondrashova says. — "I personally love how delicately it is scattered throughout the apartment, uniting everything and creating an elegant and refined look in contrast".

Living Room
The main element here is a compact sofa. It folds into a full-size double bed, solving the problem of accommodating two people. A colorful carpet was the bright accent. The window was decorated with curtains matching the wall color. They soften the vibrant elements, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere.

Bedroom
In the bedroom, blue and turquoise tones were accentuated. They highlight the room's geometry and blend well with light finishes.
Primary storage is organized in a white corner cabinet, with compartments for the residents' belongings and space for an ironing board, vacuum cleaner, and other household items. The bed box can also be used for storage.

The bed headboard was uniquely decorated and highlighted with a custom painting. The artist is designer Olga Kondrashova. This painting creates an unforgettable atmosphere in the bedroom and adds charm to the entire apartment.
"My clients didn't know I was planning to paint a canvas of such size (80*100 cm) with such a subject. The final result impressed the client greatly. The fish especially pleased her — it's a Chinese carp, symbolizing prosperity, fortune, and abundance. It is depicted with a positive and strong meaning. I'm very glad that the painting was well-received by my clients and adorns the bedroom of this apartment."

Entrance Hall
The red accent wall in the white entrance hall sets the mood right from the threshold. The bright shade brings energy, inspiration, and optimism as soon as you enter the apartment. The clocks are conveniently placed so they can be seen from any point. The wall is vibrant, beautiful, and functional.
A steel barrel was found on the marketplace. It exceeded the budget, but it so appealed to the designer that she decided to buy it, saving money on other items.

Bathroom
Only the sink was changed here, deliberately leaving the space without color accents. The apartment is filled with vibrant details, so there should be a place for rest for the eyes.
