Simple Tips That Will Help You Decorate a Timeless Interior
Interesting tips from a designer
How to decorate an apartment simply and stylishly? Designer and interior completer Julia Gorbunova answered this question. She was decorating housing for her mother-in-law and managed to fit everything necessary into 63 square meters.
We borrowed some interesting tricks from her that will help you create an ergonomic, stylish, and always up-to-date interior.
1. Painting Walls
Wallpaper can get boring after just a couple of years in a new place. Julia chose a gray-toned material because it can be easily replaced with another one at any time.
In addition, such a surface is easy to clean of stains. The key is to create high humidity in the room and start cleaning the walls about a year after the renovation.
LIFE HACK: to ensure that the walls are painted properly, shine a flashlight on the painted area from the side. All irregularities will immediately catch the eye.
2. Creating an Accent WallTo accent one wall, it's better to buy gypsum brick — it's quite affordable but also very effective. It should be painted with a brush to avoid streaks between bricks.
Red brick gives off yellow tones, so the shade should also be chosen carefully.
LIFE HACK: pay attention to the list of pigments included in the paint from other walls. The accent should be done with a light tone containing similar pigments, otherwise the walls won’t blend.
3. Budget KitchenOne person is quite enough with lower cabinets on the kitchen, so there’s no need to cover the walls with shelves. Instead, they can be decorated with glossy tiles. Even a budget cabinet set from IKEA will harmonize well in the room, so there’s no need for expensive furniture.
Juilia supplemented the interior with an inexpensive black-gold tap from China, and the chrome button of the sink was made in the same tone to create a unified concept.
LIFE HACK: near the sink on the brick wall, there is a disguised inspection hatch. You can remove a couple of bricks glued to the gypsum board (they are fixed on the wall with magnets).
