"Killed" apartment was cleaned of clutter and transformed into a sweet little space

What is a khrushchyovka in the common understanding? It's an inconvenient layout, tight corridor, furniture pile-up and severe space shortage. But even such an apartment can be redesigned into livable housing.

Architect Maxim Tikhonov managed to turn a typical 30-square-meter khrushchyovka into a stylish studio radiating coziness. Here's how it happened.

The original living space data are not particularly impressive: a first-hand one-room apartment in a brick five-story building from the 60s on the west side of Moscow. The male owner gave Maxim a full carte blanche to realize his creative ideas, considering a certain budget.

The apartment had to be thoroughly cleaned of clutter in the form of old attics, partitions and wooden floors. As a result, ceilings became higher and now measure 2.9 meters. The plaster was removed from the walls, and immediately it became much brighter and more spacious.

The layout was planned down to the smallest detail: square meters were zoned, finishes updated and decorated in accordance with design principles.

The kitchen measuring 4 square meters is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and gas column. Due to the limited space, frames were custom-made, and cabinet doors were purchased from IKEA. The kitchen countertop smoothly transitions into the windowsill, forming a rather large working surface.

The studio is executed in a light gray shade, and the room with it contrasts with a dark gray TV cube. The interior was supplemented with 60s movie posters and wooden accessories. Lighting is provided by several groups that allow playing with light in different zones.

Thanks to skillful arrangement, each detail occupies its own place and at the same time harmonizes with the rest.
