Easter Candles

Easter candles in the shape of eggs can be made easily at home. For this, we need eggs, wax, and wicks for candles.

  • First, carefully crack the eggshells from one side to remove the contents. Holes of 1–1.5 cm will be sufficient. The shells will serve as molds for making candles.
  • Take wax and melt it in a water bath. You can use wax from leftover candles or just take the simplest candle that you don’t mind wasting.
  • Insert a wick into the empty eggshell and pour in the melted wax. To keep the wick centered and straight, you need to secure it somehow. There are special holders for this purpose, but you can also do without them by securing the wick with a thread between two toothpicks.
  • Let it cool slightly and pour more wax into the eggshell up to the top, as the wax shrinks when it solidifies.
  • When the candles in the shells have cooled completely, break the shells and clean the candles off them.

That's it! The Easter candles are ready!

Painting Eggs: One Ingredient – Three Different Colors

Tea made from rosehip petals, also known as karkade, is a true magician! With its help, you can paint eggs in various colors easily and simply in one go.

  • For this, put 2–3 handfuls of karkade tea (the more, the more intense the color) into a small pot, add water, and place white eggs in it. Boil the eggs as usual for 8–10 minutes until done.
  • To get a purple color, take some eggs out of the pot while still hot and let them dry on a spoon. Hot eggs dry instantly and turn purple before your eyes.
  • Leave the rest of the eggs to cool in the pot and, once the water becomes cold, take out a few eggs and rinse them under water. This produces a soft blue tone.
  • If you leave the eggs to dry for a longer time (at least two hours, or even overnight in the fridge), and then carefully take them out without doing any manipulation — the color will be dark blue. The key is not to touch or wash them, not to wipe them dry, but just let them dry completely on a plate.
  • The marble effect is achieved by gently wiping the eggs with a cloth right after taking them out of the pot.
  • For a glossy finish, rub the eggs with plant oil once they are completely dry.

Easter Bunny for Table Setting

Since the 17th century, children in Germany have received eggs from the Easter Bunny who hides them in the grass. One of the favorite children’s pastimes is hunting for Easter eggs, especially if they are chocolate.

According to one theory, the rabbit is a symbol of awakening spring and fertility. Along with decorated eggs, it’s an essential part of German Easter. Such Easter bunnies look adorable on the Easter table, whether as small figurines or folded napkins shaped like ears.

Moss, Fresh Flowers, and Dried Flowers on the Table

Fresh flowers look great in any setting. Moss, on the other hand, adds originality to your decor! For example, it can serve as a base for Easter eggs, be used in combination with candleholders or even twisted into original balls.

Dried flowers have been a trend for years now! It’s not necessary to think they are only suitable for autumn. Dried branches of eucalyptus, roses, or gypsophila blend perfectly into spring table settings. Simply don’t throw away the wilting bouquet, but dry some of the flowers separately by hanging them in a dry and dark place.
