Before and After: Incredible Transformations of 'Killed' Bathrooms
Every apartment has potential — designers prove this with real examples. Look at the 'before' and 'after' photos and see for yourself
Small space, inconvenient layout, and the 'killed' state of these bathrooms did not prevent designers from creating cozy and functional spaces in their place.
Combined Bathroom of 3.5 m²
The dark bathroom in a standard 2-room apartment was transformed into a bright and comfortable space. To achieve this, designer Zina Malysheva decided to combine the bathroom with the toilet, move the gas boiler to the kitchen, and install a shower cabin.
To expand the space, they chose vertically laid white tiles in combination with dark graphite grout and dark flooring. The warm wood tone made the bathroom more cozy.

Convenient Bathroom in a Stalin-era Apartment
After a capital renovation, this 3-room flat now has two bathrooms — guest and household. The second one has room for a bathtub and a wide vanity unit, above which a large mirror with backlighting was installed.
Designer and architect Alexandra Melnikova chose several types of tiles for the finish. The main one is gray-beige, floor tiles imitate parquet, and a dark tile 'boar' was used for the accent wall, laid in a tree pattern.

Vibrant Bathroom in a Brezhnev-era Block
The bathroom in an old block house was so small that it was hard to fit a washing machine. Designer Anna Smolyakova solved this task by moving the door closer to the center.
The cast iron bathtub was restored with acrylic, and the screen was made from the same yellow tile as the walls. In the finish, they mixed vibrant tiles with neutral white and floor tiles with a geometric pattern — it turned out fresh and cozy.

Bathroom in a Flat for a Young Student
The client set an ambitious task for designer Maria Bezrukova: create a comfortable environment for rest and study in a one-room flat within just four months.
In the bathroom interior, they kept the original layout. For finishing, they used beige tiles and light paint — it came out masculine and uncluttered.

Tiny Bathroom in an Old Block House
To transform a small bathroom in a typical I-209A house into a cozy room, designer Anna Rims decided to replace the bathtub with a shower, tile part of the walls, and paint the other parts.
An accent was created with cement tiles featuring contrasting green and pink tones.
