How to Incorporate Plants into Interior Design. Great Examples in Typical Apartments
Examples from our projects + tips and small tricks that will help you
With green plants, any interior becomes more lively and harmonious. We explain how designers and heroes from our projects use this technique in their apartments. Don't forget to read the article to the end — we've compiled a handy checklist with tips for you.
"Green" Apartment of a Biologist
In this apartment lives a young biologist, so green plants were unavoidable in the interior. Most of them are placed on the insulated balcony — it's a real greenhouse with an abundance of sunlight. But there are also enough plants in the rooms — on the floor, window sills, shelves, and cabinets.
Plants for the bathroom were selected most carefully — only those varieties that don't need natural light can live here.

Vibrant Finish + Green Plants
If you're unsure whether houseplants can harmonize well with bright walls, take a look at this interior. Blue tones beautifully contrast the foliage and give the atmosphere a sense of cleanliness and lightness. The green paint helped make the interior more vivid and fresh — flowers look very harmonious against its backdrop.
By the way, a great life hack — add plants for comfort to the interior. This apartment is intended for rent, but thanks to such details, it looks lived-in.

Scandinavian Style and Succulents
White walls are a great base for any interior. To avoid the space feeling too empty and cold, it was complemented with planters filled with many plants, most of which are succulents. They require minimal care and are quite compact — they can fit on window sills or small shelves.
Notice how beautifully trailing plants look on shelves and cabinets — with them, the interior looks even more interesting and cozy.

Neutral Tones + Greenery
Great idea: combine plants with natural wood and muted tones — on their backdrop, greenery looks particularly well. Achieve full harmony with soft olive accents in the interior — just place planters next to them.

White Interior and Lots of Plants
Another example of how vibrant green accents can look beautifully against completely white walls. In this interior, there are no bright details — their role is played by plants. To keep house pets away from them, place all planters as high up as possible — on shelves and window sills.
If you want to achieve an interesting effect, place a large plant next to a mirror — it will seem like there is more greenery in the interior.

Cozy Oasis in Moscow
In this apartment lives a young woman who wanted to create her own cozy world — plants helped decorate a small oasis among stone jungles. The color palette with blue and pale pink tones combined with green foliage reminds of a blooming garden and creates a sense of calm.
Plants were placed closer to the windows, and most of them were moved to the balcony — here they feel most comfortable and get enough sunlight.

Budget Interior with a Mini-Garden on the Balcony
When decorating this interior, owners tried to save as much as possible: they chose simple materials and furniture, so plants helped make the setting more interesting and expressive.
A special pride — a large shelf with plants on the balcony. It's a small but cozy greenhouse where you can rest and recharge your energy for the whole day.

Checklist: How to Incorporate Plants into Interior Design?
Combine greenery with white color — this is a winning choice. Or with bright colors: it's important to choose shades that will harmonize well with each other. Add green accents to the interior — with them, plants will integrate more harmoniously into the setting. Place planters on shelves, cabinets, and window sills. If you don't have mischievous pets — even on the floor. Place a plant next to a mirror for an interesting effect. In modern interiors, succulents and trailing plants look great. An insulated balcony is the best place for a mini-greenhouse. For the bathroom, choose varieties that don't need sunlight.
